Hi guys, please excuse my ignorance. I'd like to post one of my paintings here -- it was published in Prehistoric Times a few issues back, but at the size of a postage stamp... it's a T.rex ambushing a Trike (not very original combatants, I know, but all in the cause of debunking the T. rex-as-scavenger-only hokum).

What issue is it in? All you have to do is upload it on a photo site (photobucket or flickr, for example), and then just post the image tag and the picture will appear. Can't wait to see your art!

What did you paint that with?

Hi Stoneage -- I started in opaque watercolour then went to oils and acrylics. I then scanned it and finished it up in Photoshop.
A lot of experimentation!

I adore your Tyrannosaurus Hey, thanx! I'd like to make a sculpture/diorama of this scene, but I'm pretty sure I'll never find the time. I'm working on a book of prehistoric battles, which will include this painting. I'm currently finishing up a Smilodon/Cave Bear fight, and up next is a Terror Bird/Human struggle.

I think Tyrannax is going to want your book. He loves prehistoric animal battles. I like the vibrant colors in your work and the way you have used light and dark. I really like the ferns, I think that must have taken some time to draw them all. The proportions on the Dinosaurs and their poses I think could be more scientific but there is a lot of potential there. Good luck with your endeavor.

Thanks heaps Stoneage and Tyrannax -- you too, Tomhet. it means a lot coming from you guys, who are obviously major dino-fans. The folks over at the local Dinosaur Museum here in Canberra were nice about it, too.
So yeah, the book: "Prehistoric Mayhem!"... at this stage, I'm open to suggestions for conflicts to depict. I already have a bunch in mind (and on the drawing board) but if anyone can come up suggestions for some kickass matches that aren't all that obvious (unlike my painting above!) I'll be happy to hear 'em.
I'm going to be dealing in Triassic tussles right up to stoneage rampages, all monsters considered -- humans included!

Being a battle lover these would be my suggestions: T-Rex s deinosuchus Carchardontosaurus vs spinosaurus Ceratosaurus vs allosaurus If you don't mind animal battles with animals at different times: T-Rex vs giganotosaurus Ceratosaurus vs dilophosaurus Megalodon vs liopleurodon I can think of more, but these are what I thought of right off the bat

Those are good ones, thanx Tyrannax...! I'd be a bit reluctant to do anachronistic battles, but those do sound cool too.
I definitely want to feature a Giganotosaurus ripping into something....
Do you think Ankylosaurs had to fend off pterosaurs from stealing their eggs? I'm gonna do it anyway!

Probably, considering small cretaceous mammals didn't get to them first. Mammals such as didelphodon..

Wow! Very impressive work! I will have to try and find that issue just for your art work!

Thanks boki, very nice of you to say that. Unfortunately it's printed very small in PT -- it's on the letters page. I've had a couple of my other pictures in PT too, but quite a few years ago now.
BTW, everyone on this forum should be a PT subscriber -- it's ace!
