Thanks, I like this guy so far too- regarding the pose,I was more than a little bit influenced by the CM Studios one to be quite honest, I just love that model-I have done more to it since these photos were taken- I am trying to resolve the fins, not positive yet about size and shape, due to conflicting references- I kept the mouth closed on this one due to its size, keeps the molding and casting easier, makes for a cheaper model, as well as it looking cool with the moth closed- the large 1/15 scale one has its mouth open though- want to show off the interesting shape of the jaws and teeth on that one

I can see where you influenced by it..but yours is much better..the pose is perfect and feels more..natural..than the CM Studio model.
It will be interesting seeing the differences from this scale to the larger one.
Are you going to do the teeth overhanging/lapping ?
It could be neat to put a couple of these with your larger one as juveniles. ;D
I'm not sure on the fin shapes myself..I've seen them vary a bit.
On a larger piece I would like to see some barnacles on it's body if possible..it also seems likely.

ooh cool. Difficult to comment on the accuracy because Kronosaurus is quite poorly known and I haven't acquired a copy of Colin McHenry's recent PhD thesis on this creature yet.
However, I think the limbs could be bulked out - they were powerful propulsive organs. The body may be a bit too long as well.

Malcolm - Did you do any work on the paddles? I too think they could be bulked up and expanded a bit - they somehow look a little small. This sculpt by CM Studios comes to mind:

Simon- I did bulk them up since the first photos that DTF commented on- I am very familiar with the CM Studios sculpt, always have loved that piece- the only good reference for the flippers that I found was the famous skeleton mount that is fudged with a lot of plaster- so I dont know if the flippers on that mount were fudged as well-but I took the shape and size from that mount- I found other photos of skeletons, but they were in situ shots photographed oliquely so there wasnt a good head on shot-the best I found was the plastersaurus skeleton-the shape of those flippers do not relate to the CM Studios sculpt shape and size- I am doing the Kronosaurus 1/15 scale as a commission piece and did the 1.40 as a preliminary piece to work it out before doing the bigger one- I usually would not feel comfortable doing a sculpt with so little info-do not trust the plastersaurus skeleton, not knowing how much of it was fudged in plaster-I did remove seven or eight of the ribs as it was said that the mount had too many ribs-

Yeah - Upon a second look I can see the difference. This piece BLOWS both the Carnegie and Schleich Kronosaur's away .... its fantastic ...

Wow, I love this one Malcolm! So pleased to see you active again...and active is an understatement! When will this be available? Also, have you considered doing any prehistoric amphibians like Eryops or Diplocaulus? I'd live to see those. Also, you HAVE to make your Archelon!!! I understand that it's not as lucrative to make the less popular stuff, but bet you might get enough buyers from this forum for some of the uncommon spp. to make it worth your while!
