Is Frederick's book still in production?
A new one hmmm... I vote that Piltdown writes it. All in favour say 'aye' ;D

Ah, but Piltdown has a vested interest in inflating the market value by several orders of magnitude ;D A $1,000 Battat Diplodocus, anyone? ;D

disgraceful.
All those against, say 'nay'!
Is there an official way to calculate values? or is is a case of "this is what I think it's worth" or "this is the average rate on ebay". What did Frederick do?

No methodology was clearly stated, just the vague "current market prices", with a price range. Ah, for the days when a Battat acrocanthosaurus or a Starlux cephalaspis could be had for $10 .

Not that I'm aware, I think he just wants it to be WORTH a lot. ;D

I also think the Battat carnotaurus should be worth, oh, 2500 GBP maybe? ;D
Seriously though the only basis for a price range would be a survey of the half-dozen or so main online dinosaur toy outlets (which would apply only to the new releases in production); then an eBay history; prices in bricks-and-mortar toy outlets in theory can be considered, but I can't think of any feasible means to survey the stores in a representative region. Toy fairs, antique shows, estate sales, and flea markets should be included also, but I don't have much experience in those fields. Personal transactions shouldn't count.
--Though if someone would actually pay me 1000 USD for a Battat diplodocus I'd take it. Heck, it came with a huge set of JP toys for which I paid 30 USD; naturellement I resold the JP stuff, the proceeds of which were enough to pay for the diplodocus, so I essentially got it for free ;D

Well, I guess we could work something out, but the task would be HUGE. Besides, with the renewed interest in dinos prices have become unpredictable, specially those figures that are out of production

...I want that Dippieh! $1000 is...too steep. The highest I've paid for any non-circulation dinosaur was $72 and that was for a loose JP Baryonyx. Thank Goodness my Gallimimus was free (Don't ask. Don't tell )

what if we didnt make a specific value guide and just made a book with info on all available dinosaur and prehistoric models?

I think it would be great: 'The Dinosaur Toy Guide'
Part of a Holy Trinity, in association with the 'Dinosaur Toy Forum' and the 'Dinosaur Toy Blog'.
Who would make a good publisher for such a book?

Mr. Iguana has a good point. An archive, a fully functional archive would benefit all.
