Arioch - Actually I do draw out the scales. I seem to enjoy tedious and detail. LOL I really wasn't trying to copy the Papo allosaurus, but I can see the similarity. You and me both..;D There is just something about sitting down and doing every single little detailed part isn't there ? It's actually a little calming to me..I can spend hours at it and not notice.. lol

I like doing individual scales too. Last night I had friends over and just sat there in conversation with company while painting hundreds of tiny circles. Sort of relaxing.

It is relaxing. Favorite areas to render is the face, hands, and feet. It can get a bit tedious in the middle of the torso, or a sauropod neck. ;D

Yes ! places where all the scales are exactly the same..just a little mind numbing. That also why I add scars and wrinkles and such..breaks up the monotony a bit. ;D

;D I love your amazing detail! It must take such a long time to put every individual scale on the animal's body!

I forgot to ask, what skeletals did your client give you to use for reference? I feel very bad for you working so hard on those and then finding out that they're inaccurate! I am truly sorry (even though it's not my fault).

DTCK ( just abbreviated your name.. lol ) I don't believe the client was to blame..the science just changes so fast it's hard to keep up and still make everything accurate. :/

You never now with paleontology! Anyway, I whipped this little something up in photoshop (I'm not quite done yet though). Enjoy!

Typo there - should be 'Ornithischians' (cf 'Saurischians')

Cool, I like that! ;D Naw it's not the clients fault, it's just outdated. BTW Where do you guys get your up to date info/skeletals/etc. I try my best for accuracy, but finding correct references online can be a mine field sometimes.

Scott Hartman has a lot of good skeletal drawings. I believe his username on DeviantArt is shartman.

Yeah, Scott Hartman, and there's always Greg Paul's Field Guide. Not perfect (I'm told) but better than 90% of what's available on the Internet.

I only just discovered this thread ! (How could I?) These are really beautiful illustration cards!! I would get them right away if I saw them in a shop. ..... there's always Greg Paul's Field Guide. Not perfect (I'm told) but better than 90% of what's available on the Internet. I'd say when it comes to skeletal reconstructions it is pretty perfect and highly recommendable.

Thanks guys. I need to set up a way to print some of my art, I would love to see fellow paleofreaks with my stuff. Should ask Angie how she set hers up on Dan's Dinosaurs.

You could also ask Dan..he deals with several paleo-artists directly. He might be able to offer some help on that..make recommendations and such.

Thanks guys. I need to set up a way to print some of my art, I would love to see fellow paleofreaks with my stuff. Should ask Angie how she set hers up on Dan's Dinosaurs. Your art as prints would be FANTASTIC!!!! I use things like Redbubble and am about to use www.fineartamerica.com/ for prints of some paintings I'm trying so hard to get done, lol! Just ask Dan, he's awesome. but you should really look into these online print on demand places. I've had success with them. Your work is beautiful. I much admire your choice of colors...
