I'm with you. I just couldn't resist championing my favourite myself. ;D Needless to say, I still thoroughly look forward to getting the Brach and to possibly eating my words when I find it far superior beyond any initial reactions.

I agree (even though I'll probably never even touch a Battat Diplo, let alone own one). But then again, I don't care about scientific accuracy as much as the sculpt quality. Yes, I do like scientific accuracy and think it is something companies should strive for, but sculpt quality is much more important to me. Also, is this new Carnegie Brachio more accurate compared to the Wild Safari one? Especially the way the neck is positioned. The Papo line has to be your favorite then..they pack so much detail into a piece it looks like a statue. ;D I think both the new WS Brachio and the new Carnegie Brachio are both correct as of now. I know we discussed it back when it was released..and I can't recall any glaring problems.

Agreed. I'm sure it will be impressive enough to be worth getting. Of course you will be able to display it with the new Carnotaurus and re-enact your favorite scenes from Disney's Dinosaur ! lol ;D

This has been discussed before, but I want to confirm... The new safari brachi is most likely based on Giraffatitan, whilst the new carnegi brachi is most likely based on Brachiosaurus altithorax, correct?

I believe Dr. Andre Mursch thinks the Safari one is Brachiosaurus altithorax.

*sheepish* Of course I'm not really a reference, but thanks, Niroot! That was mainly because the nasal crest is quite low and the trunk quite long in the 2010 WS Brachiosaurus compared with other brachiosaur figures. The tail could probably be longer but tails are nearly always abbreviated in dinosaur figures. EDIT: "sheepish" or the like would probably fit better than "ashamed", I believe...

I'm fond of the word 'sheepish'; if only because I feel -- and use it -- often. ;D

Just to get my basics right, Brachiosaurus altithorax is slightly more massive, has a lower crest and longer tail. Giraffatitan brancai is more gracile, has a more steeply sloped back and higher crest. Right??

Actually, Favorite are my favourite (heh) line because they combine nice details and usually good accuracy. Too bad they don't bring many new pieces out these days.... But yeah, I like Papo ;D
On the subject of Papo, I just ordered the new gnarly Rex from Dinosaur Time. w00t!

I think they may have tweaked the sculpt of the "squatting" Rex just a bit. The teeth seem more blade-like and less dull at the tips. Sorry my photo doesn't quite show it. By the way, love the new Olorotitan, Niroot!

I can see it from your picture, how intriguing...
Thank you, Dan! You can see the entire sheet of studies on my thread, if you care to. *Sheepish plug* There, I've used it again. ;D

You only just noticed? People have been mentioning this ever since Papo released pictures of it.
I like to think of the new Rex as an old, battle scarred individual who is probably on his last legs ;D
I'm calling it the "Gnarly Rex" from now on
