Hello everyone,
I have been visiting the Dinosaur Toy Forum (and Blog) for some time now to collect information about toys and models, and I am in awe of the enthusiasm and collections of some of the members here on the forum. I decided to become a member, but I don't know how I could attribute to this vast body of knowledge. Most of all I am here to listen, see, learn and be entertained ;)
I am a dutch guy living in Norway and I have been a dinosaur fan since I was about five or so (one of my first drawings, which I still have, is of a Dimetrodon), and some of my dinosaur toy models I have always cherished. Some have fallen out of favor and have disappeared (those cheap and hollow dinosaur-like monsters that really no-one would like - I assume ;). But when I became a teenager, I became more discriminate and style and quality conscious, and I started noticing the Invicta (British Museum of Natural History) dinosaur modeltoys collectibles and started hoarding them (they were arguably the only 'accurate' dinosaur models in my childhood) and some Tamiya model kits. For many years I only sparingly bought models, including a Tony McVey 'running T-rex' resin model kit (I could show it on the forum if there is interest - it is featured as my avatar at the moment). But since a few months I have been in a buying spree (I convinced myself I wanted to let the child in me speak freely again ;), and bought myself a dozen new and excellent toys/models and the end doesn't seem to be in sight. I need to make room for them soon: they need their own cabinet or shelves, or they would crowd what little existing spaces I still have in and on the bookcases and cabinets :)
I hope to find interesting feedback (and a dearly wanted but scarcely found sympathetic ear :P) for my 'new old hobby' here on the Dinosaur Toy Forum!
Thanks,
Jan.
