So there's this toy shop near where I work, and I went in there on a break to take a look around. Like many toy shops, it has a rack where Schleich figures are displayed. This time, though, the Schleich figures were accompanied by a smattering of CollectAs, including their most recent dinosaurs and non-prehistoric animal figures.
I saw a similar thing at a different shop elsewhere, so now I'm beginning to wonder if Schleich is being displaced, or at least challenged, by CollectA. Has anyone else seen this happening?

Nah. I wish. Over here the only place I've seen Collecta dinos being sold is in a shop and a museum, both in the Isle of Wight (not including online stores, obviously)! Otherwise it seems to be Schleich, Schleich and more Schleich...

Unfortunately it doesn't seem to be the case on a lot if places. Here in France it's either Papo only, Schleich only or both Papo and Schleich. Even the Carnegie collection that used to be in stores years ago is now gone.

Schleich has been very aggressive at pushing out competition from stores, and the fact that there are stores with any CollectA at all is indicative that some retailers are at least willing to try. It will likely happen (whether in favour of ColelctA or Safari, don't know) as Schleich continues to move into bigger discount centres and larger stores. Small, independent retailers will not be able to compete price-wise, and will need a line that they can be exclusive with. But for now, Schleich is definitely still dominant (of course, as they are gutting their prehistoric line this year, it remains to be seen what they are replacing it with--that could also leave a bug hole in many stores).

Schleich is losing to CollectA since Toyplex stores have opened all over the country. ;D

I'm pretty sure that the major reduction of Schleich's prehistoric line will at least give some space to other companies. DInosaurs are popular, but if Schleich isn't offering them then retailers will look elsewhere.

And Schleich is not interested in making researches for representing new species. They only re-release the very same common species every year.

I perfer CollectA because of their assortment of dinosaurs and their chep prices.
