Well, I have previous experience working with WW2 models (specially tanks and ships). You know painting and weathering, but I never work before with animals so that's why I ask regarding to the kind and brand of the paint to have some lead. I've a pm to CJCJWIN a few days ago with no response. I hope he looks at the messages some time and reply to me. Thank you every one for the great advices.

Acrylics are the most convenient and versatile paints for all kinds of figures, Racsoh. But if you already have experience with figure painting, it won't matter so much what you choose as long as you get the results you want. I'm sure you can apply the same techniques from your WW2 models to dinosaurs, you'll just be looking at a different set of aesthetics. Good references of modern animals as inspiration will be useful, in which case.

noob question: would acrylic, or any type of paint for that matter, be permanent on a figure, or does a figure have to be coated with some kind of substance/chemical after painting it to keep the paint on permanently?

You don't have to, but I think it's a good idea to give it a basic varnish coating so that the paint is protected against knocks and scratches. If you're using a decent quality acrylic, I think the binding agent in the paint will prevent the paint from coming off.

I agree. When kevin/teton did his repaints for me, every dino got a coat of matte varnish to protect its new paint job.
