2011 Papo Anky and the whole 2011 CollectA prehistoric line. (Didn't necessarily want all of them, but hey, they were gifts and I didn't have to pay for them. ;D) With these gifts, this ends my 2011 figure chase. Just in the (Saint) Nick of time!

No toys here, I'll have no get one for myself with some Christmas money. I'm leaning towards the Papo Allosaurus or Carnegie Carnotsaurus or Miragaia.

Wow, what a nice looking book, Niroot! And a wonderful, thoughtful gift, Marc. Not to diminish in any way the beautiful illustrations in this book, but IMHO Niroot, I think you could illustrate these dinos birds even better.

You're very kind, Chuck, but I strongly doubt that! Given that these are his sketches, their level of accomplishment and draughtsmanship are exquisite. Look at this glorious study, for instance. *Drools* Or some of his finished paintings.

What a beautiful book! (And you've got another present coming... I was going to keep it a surprise, but as it didn't arrive in time for christmas....) ;D
I didn't get anything directly hobby related, but I've bought Audubon's Birds of America for myself.

This is my first book of his too, although I had known of him before.

And here are the two late surprises! From Helge (Postsaurischian) came this Kaiyodo Study Room Japanese crested ibis. And from Ingunn (Sumo) came this marvelous book on prehistoric Humans, Mennesket Kommer, by J. Wolf; with amazing paintings like these by Zdenek Burian. Then there was this beautiful blue jay sculpted and painted by Ingunn herself. And, 'just for giggles', she also enclosed a dinosaur colouring book, which, she added, is 'apparently more up to date than the majority of dinopedias... There are actual feathered dinos!' Such as this extremely fetching raptor man. Ingunn also annotated a few of the pages... Finally, I thought I'd share these two drawings of a Diplodocus and a dodo which Ingunn drew in her letter too. Thank you so much to all three of you for these. I'm very, very touched.

An unexpected present, a giant, nay, GIGANTIC Dinosaurs book by Steve Brusatte: Full of glossy CGI images, I had to wear my lab gloves while leafing through it because the photo paper really picks up smudges. Overall pretty cool, and it had some dinos I'd never heard of, but the info was limited and often unfortunate mistakes were spotted, esp for the size/scale comparisons. Overall though, a great book for beginners, with some beautiful computer pictures, which I will use as templates for future painting endeavours. Other cool thing is, some LIFE SIZE drawings are included of Archie and some others, which I will post tomorrow, stay tuned!
