Most Life like/Realistic Prehistoric Figures

Hello Dinoguys.

I'm starting this thread to get a list of the MOST realistic/ life like figures of prehistoric animals of ANY kind, not restricted to dinosaurs.

And please, be aware that I'm NOT talking about accuracy. I'm talking about amazing paint-jobs or dynamic posses or so much detail in the sculpt.

I know all of us have our own standards. So feel free to post your thoughts. It would be nice if you post a picture and tell the scale of each figure when possible.

I hope this could become an useful list for the new collectors. (Like me ;D )

Next from Papo: (Don't get mad for inaccuracy)

Ankylosaurus:

Scale: Not sure, but dimensions are 14 x 7 x 7.5 cm.
Highlights: Dynamic pose, crouching and swinging its tail. Good paint-job. Nice 'face expression'
P.D.- Yes, i know its an Euoplocephalus.

If you don't care about scientific accuracy then any dinosaur by Papo is pretty much the most life-like you can get at this point. Some of the newer releases from Wild Safari are also close to that standard.

Carnegie's feathered dinosaurs are pretty life like. I think these two are the best of the bunch.

The coloration of the white version of the Dinotales Sinosauropteryx is pretty close to the real thing.

As for the Carnegie Caudipteryx, the feathers start on the wrong finger. They should start on the second finger, not the third one. But it is pretty well detailed.

So yeah...but when it comes to 'figures', are we only talking about toys? Or can we include resin/Shapeways sculptures? Of course they are the best in every respect! Otherwise, yeah, Papo...

Well then I nominate the Battat Diplodocus. 1/40-ish scale. The Wild Safari Stegosaurus has a nice feel to it, as does the Battat Styracosaurus.

I think most of the Dinotales figures are excellent in the lifelike regard. Most are quite accurate and detailed and have some nice poses. The Siamotyrannus is a good example.

Of course i care to a certain degree, but I'm flexible enough. And remember that this thread is about what figures YOU consider life-like, not me. Thanks for the suggestions. Hope you can post the Wild-Safari's you consider life-like.

Tylosaurus:

Scale: 1:40
Highlights: Nice stripped colors, bright, but not cartoon like. Good detail, specially in the mouth.

No camera, so no pics. "Life like" is hard to quantify, since I think most of us would have a hard time just visualizing what these animals were really like. I guess my criteria would have to be a naturalistic pose..the most "animal like" if you will. I think that is what i like most about the Battats. There is a sense of grace and balance about most of them. MOST toys really screw up on the legs and feet being unnatural looking. Does that make sense?

Hi everybody.
Thank you for all the suggestions. It would be nice if most of you post pics.

I personally think toys are better than resin sculptures, but only because they are cheaper and easier to find and buy worldwide.
But Hey!!! Feel free to post them anyway, just ensure to write that it is an resin sculpture in your post.
As for the final list, it will be just about toys.

I just got it, and I am quite taken with the Carnegie miragaia, and their new Carnotaurus too.

I think that though they cost more, the resin statues would win this if you were impartial. The Sideshow Apato looks to be just awesome, and very natural looking to boot. They have an advantage pose-wise, as they can be on bases, and thus look more active....

Looking through my collection now, I can name a few good figures. The Kinto Favorite Spinosaurus desktop model is quite colorful within plausibility, and is in quite an active pose. The Dinostoreus Allosaurus is pretty good, and has a shut mouth unlike pretty much every theropod restoration. Amongst Dinotales figures, some ones with good poses are the Acrocanthosaurus, Siamotyrannus, T. rex (from series 7), Carnotaurus, Protoceratops, and Arsinotherium.

Great choices! The Sideshow Tupuxuara, and Sideshow Spinosaurus are also quite appealing.
