just a little thought.
this blog and forum covers almost all types of prehistoric creatures besides just dinosaurs.
so should we call it the Prehistoric Toy Blog/Forum instead?
like i said, its just a thought.

I think Paleo Toy Forum/Blog would be more appropriate but DTF/B is good as well. Sure, we may not collect only dinosaurs but they certainly make up the bulk of our collections.

I would recommend being around a little longer than 6 months before suggesting overarching changes to a site that has been around for years and is run just fine by somebody else.
Just a thought.

Why so much aggression? On a toy forum of all places, from a moderator? Are you becoming a bit jaded sbell?

That was more like a snide remark. The fact is, after all of this time, a new member 'throws out there' that we should change the name? And we (those of us who have been here a lot longer) should say nothing? If someone throws out an opinion, they have to be prepared for both support and scorn. That's life.

I may be new still, but I have been stalking this website for several years now to see what its mostly about. Before finally signing up for it, last year. but if anyone feels I suggested to early, by own means close this thread, and ill wait until I'm a bit older on here (figuratively speaking), or let someone else do the sugesting .

If you thought that was aggressive you should see me in full form. I've been on forums long enough that I have an idea of what that is like. I've seen many moderators like you in "full form". It seems like you approach most situations on here with a snide remark/attitude. I know full well what life is like but in a place like this (a toy forum) do members really need to walk on eggshells because of jaded moderators? The subject of a forum name change has come up before, even our Admin has engaged in it... dinotoyforum.proboards.com/index.cgi?board=feetback&action=display&thread=115&page=7So what really is the big problem here? Are you not the guy who is supposed to prevent conflicts around here rather than instigate them?

Sbell, it was only a polite suggestion. Your response was snide...and aggressive. We really have to lead by example, and so, and this may be a first, I'm going to give you a formal warning for this one. Takama, it is something I've considered (check out Gwangi's link), but I'm using the word 'dinosaur' because of it's pop-cultural impact. I guess it is a branding decision more than anything

I'll be off the forum for a while unless there is something I need to check/add.

Hey, gwangi, lio99 and takama, interesting idea. But, hmmmm...As long as we all know what really happens here and new members quickly can find out (what I think they can by looking at our banner) that also fans of other prehistoric creatures are fine gathering here, Id suggest not to change the name. "Dinosaur" stands in popular culture for things like mammoths or Dimetrodon, too. We dont give in to lazyness of the society when we just keep the name we have. And another aspect is: "DTF" is a really cool short version. Just think of DAOPAF...But I do admit that "Palaeo Toy Forum" has a little charme. Anyway, I personally stick to our proud history and vote for not changing the name...

I don't actually want to change it either, I fully understand why this place has it's name and don't take issue with it. I was just saying IF it were to be changed "Paleo" has a bit more of a ring to it than "Prehistoric". When I talk to people I tell them I collect dinosaur toys...despite having toys of other extinct animals.

I am used to the name we have now and don't want change.
