It looks a bit too 'comedy ' for my tastes As I mentioned elsewhere, it's the color scheme and sculpt that are disappointing, not the presence of feathers. *EDIT* thats it! it looks like its sky diving - deploy parachute in three seconds...3....2..... By the way, I wondered what you thought of the quill knobs in Velociraptor Piltdown?

There is nothing new under the sun. The 'inspiration' [sic] for the Bullyland velociraptor is apparently the deinonychus by Kabaya of a few years ago: And it sounds weird, but if Bullyland were to remove all those fuzz and feathers and replace them with scales, I think I would actually like the sculpt *Prepares my feather-trimming knife* ;D

Why do you dislike feathered dinosaurs so much?

Why do you dislike feathered dinosaurs so much? The answer to that requires an entire thread of its own... ;D

Well "late" Jan. has come and gone, anybody got the new carnegie diplodocus yet?
ugh thats an ugly raptor from bullyland too, I have nothing against the feathers, but the color and pose looks like something of a cross between a Thanksgiving turkey and "Killer Klowns from Outer Space."

The Safari diplodocus appears to have missed its scheduled debut -- although I know of at least one collector who has somehow managed to acquire one early last year Papo allosaurus is due June 2008; the Schleich dinos in September; the other Wild Safaris in March (Safari's distribution system has broken down, so expect 2-3 month delays on these too). That leaves the Wild Republic Sea Monsters line to be accounted for, and that's it for 2008

That leaves the Wild Republic Sea Monsters line to be accounted for, and that's it for 2008 Re-reading the press release frpm Wild Republic (I included a news story in my January Plesiosaur Directory Newsletter ;D), I'm not all that certain that they will actually be producing rubber figures? They only explicity state "plush", as far as I can tell? Am I wrong? I hope so

Hmm, indeed they only mention the plush toys, but I've noticed a trend in Wild Republic releases--they release a boxed set of 8-10 hollow rubber (plastic?) creatures, accompanied by plush versions of each, so I think they'll continue the practice

I've seen those Wild Republic critters. I plan to snag a bag of the bigger dinosaurs in 4 days when the Geology class goes to the Museum. w00t!
I have the plush Utahraptor and the Velociraptor. They're both named Prowakalak. I don't know why, but they're extremely adorable.

Is it just me, or has Bullyland subtly repainted its tyrannosaurus? My t-rex is definitely of a darker hue than this t-rex on Bullyland's website--though Bullyland has not identified it as "new" for 2008:

Yup, mine's dark grey too--I think I like this version better I'll be ordering this, not that feathered toothy chicken thing ;D

Actually, you can see the grey version in the main photo of my collection (top right hand side), in my collection thread. My memory was correct

I second the notion that the Schleich replicas can be butt ugly...
Don't get me wrong, I love Scheich and have a dozen or so of the Replica Saurus line, but sometimes I wonder who the heck is in control of quality? Sometimes they make fantastic new additions to the line, such as the saltasaurus, the modernized iguanodon, and I think the torosaurus is one of my favorites. But then look at the styracosaurus, which looks totally retro in comparison, and the ouranosaurus looks like a duck-kangaroo. I do like that they updated the spino because it needed it (now if only Carnegie would get on the ball) but it looks too much like a crocodile with the scutes and everything. My confidence in Schleich has been shaken since they retired fully half of the line, including some winners (like the edmontonia, desmatosuchus, and shonisaurus) that I never got my hands on! And now we're on our third allosaurus sculpt! Argggh!

Schleich is making a new Spinosaurus? I haven't seen that. The new allosaurus is moderately acceptable. He's ok. I enjoyed it.

There's pics of the new (or should I say re-hash) Schleich lineup on page 1 of this post.

I like it. The allo looks weird. DejaVu. I wonder if they'll be available at the Museum.
