^ If I don't pay attention in math, I fail. Math is a usless skill after you leave school anyway, even my teachers at school told me that. Pass a message to your teacher from me--he or she is an idiot. Most people do not realize how much they use math--logic, problem solving, puzzles, knots, probabilities and predictions. And of course money. And things like building and lot surveying, orienteering and finding your way. Drive times. If I took long enough, this post would never end (yes, illogical statement!). The problem is that your teacher is a moron who is apparently unable to understand their own subject.

^ Although not as harshly, I agree.
You use mathematics in almost every career field you can think of. Its a very important skill, and is treated as the most important academic.

Yes Basic Math is used in everyday life and every career field, but basic math is also common sense and most kids know how to add, subtract, divide, and solve general number problems by high school, Also Communication/English, reading & writing IMO and many others is treated as the most important academic skill.

You need way more than basic math for a lot of professions, particularly well-paying ones like engineering.

I also work in the same office as them, They use calculators and other tools and also use a lot of Basic Math, I just asked if they ever use P.I.E or any of the other Math Calculations and the reply was NO. Actually one Engineer here Failed year 11 Math and never finished High School and the other left High school after year 10. Im not good at Math but am better at Math than both of the Engineer's in my office. I just told them what i wrote, they laughed but agreed with me.

I will be sure to ask when i see either back in the office, I know one did part time uni back in the Dinosaur days, when high school was almost irrelevant, not sure about the other,
