This post could equally have gone into new acquisitions, but I'm seeking info. I won my first ever Ebay auction. yay. Anyway, the plesiosaur in this lot took my fancy, and for £1, I was willing to buy. It looks like an old Chinasaur, but a pretty good one at face value. I'd never seen it before - have any of you?

At first I believed it was something Starlux related, but it's not. Nice find I envy your pineapple ;D I thought you had won some Kaiyodos

I won the Kaiyodos, but they were 'buy it now' items so I consider this my first auction won Yes, The pineapple is the real reason why I bid on this lot ;D It will go staight onto the top of my pencil... I also saw a blue version of the same plesiosaur in another auction, but that's over now - I was outbid.

Either it is based on this Macroplata painting, or vice versa. Just a coincidence?

The blue one went for a little more than I expected: £4.30

What's going to happen to the Chinasaurs in the lots? That's always been a problem for me when I have had to bid on a gigantic lot of dinosaurs to get the one I want

I'm new here--just joined--but I can solve your mystery because I have one of the blue ones. It is marked TOYWAY on the bottom. That's right, the company that brought us Walking with Dinosaurs figures also produced a small plesiosaur (but I don't know when).
I do like the Macroplata ID though.

Thats odd - my green version says 'Dinocrats', no reference to Toyway: Deatil of the bottom of the plesiosaur - the one in first post. Maybe we are talking about different plesiosaur figures? By the way, I am very pleased with the pineapple tomhet - I gve it as a gift to my girlfriend to remind her of me

That's very strange--I checked mine again, and while it is the same exact sculpt (the long tail is a giveaway) it clearly says Toyway. And Plesiosaurus, and UK. No date though.

Interesting. How odd - well at least we know Toyway and 'Dinocrat's are linked somehow. Maybe they used the same moulds, or maybe Toyway used to be called Dinocrats? We have a line of evidence to follow! *...picks up pipe and magnifying glass and begins to investigate the history of Toyway...*
Thanks for the information by the way, really helpful.

Maybe we are talking about different plesiosaur figures? That's my guess too. Maybe a Chinese company used the mold and named the line Dinocrats. Even so, it's kind of strange that we've never heard of those products. By the way, I am very pleased with the pineapple tomhet - I gve it as a gift to my girlfriend to remind her of me You really squeezed the juice out of that lot, didn't ya?

Not particularly rare, in the UK at least. They frequently pop up on ebay, you just have to keep your eyes open. I got mine (green version) for a couple of quid.

Is there a real plesiosaur with a tail that long?

Well, in an earlier post in this thread, there is an image of Macroplata that has a longer tail.
