Thanks guys! The Suchomimus is made out of Super Sculpy that I baked and painted. (new and better paint job coming soon!). I plan to sculpt a 1:6 scale Sucho in the near future that I will mold and make castings.

Wow, that's impressive! I'd totally dig on a small (1:50 to 1:60 sucho) if you ever do one - if you do, let me know and I"ll buy a casting.

Hello Josh- I'm not a big fan of the JP1 incarnation of dilo, other than the fact that it kills Newman- but am a fan of your work. You are a sculptor.

Wow, Josh! You are very good! If they ever get JPIV off the ground, I think you might have a job!
Are you working professionally for any creature design company? If not, I really think you should be showing your work. I think Stan Winston would have been impressed.
I can't believe you're only 22!! Did you study sculpting and painting in college?
Anyway, welcome! You and your art will be such a wonderful contribution to this site!!

Josh- I don't want to sound negative here- but there probably is no way to say this without doind so- but with your talent it seems a shame that you are locked into the Jurrasic Park mode. I would love to see you do a real dilophosaurus head instead of the fantasy JP version. I have always felt that the JP dilo head just looks like one of their velociraptors with some fins glued onto the head-and the JP fins have no relation in shape to the actual fins on the fossil skull. If you look at a real dilo's skull it is so much more beautiful then what they came up with for JP, especially the baronyx style mouth with its croc like front indentation which a lot of dilo sculpts seem to ignore.. that mouth line is a very beautiful line. You have to forgive me I am not trying to rain on your parade in any way- just want to give a very talented young sculptor some advice. There are too many talented dino sculptors out there who have been 'tainted' by JP reconstructions. You have a real talent for sculpting dinos- I just hope that you will look at the skeletal information before you start a reconstruction. I know how much work you are putting into these models, it just seems like if you are going to spend this time- why have the potential of after all of this work someone pointing out their scientific inaccuracies? Dismissing them as JP clones. If you take this extra step you could do some real nice scientific reconstructions. Check out CM Studios- they are a studio that specializes in scientifically accurate dino reconstructions- both scale models and life size. And as far as velociraptor check Stephen Czerkas site he has a real cool reconstruction of that one.Having said that- I really am a fan of your work.

After waking up more and rereading this post of mine- it comes off soundaing WAY too negative, and not really what I was trying to say. I do realize that the intent of the dilo sculpt was to make a JP dilo head and not a scientific study- and I do realize that the other sculpts that aren;t related to JP are more realistically or scientifically done. I was just trying to suggest you do a scientifically accurate life size Dilo head. I started one of my own but have gotten sidetracked by other projects and probably won;t finish it. Dilophosaurus is one of my favorite theropods, and i am admitadly sensitive when it comesto the JP treatment of it, like T-Rex fans sometimes are about their T-Rex reconstruction. JUst wantedto reiterate that I am a fan of your work Josh.

Thanks guys! I am currently going to the Art institute for Entertainment design. So that is where I learned a lot of what I do. I started out wanting to get in to creature design or animatronics, but realized that museum type work is much more fulfilling. So that is what I am doing now at the company Mechanimal that I currently work for. I understand where you are coming form dinonikes. I know of all the inaccuracies in the Jurassic Park dinosaurs. My JP sculpts are just are just movie replicas. So I see them as movie creatures not scientific restorations. Jurassic Park is why I got into this line of work. So I have always wanted to make replicas of the dinosaurs for myself and fans that wanted them but could not get them on the market. I am only doing a few more JP dinos then I am just going to focus on scientifically accurate ones. I do use skeletal pics and measurements then I make my other dinos. I always get a ton of reference and research when I start a new sculpt. I do plan to do a life size real Dilophosaur bust. In fact the guy I work for has been wanting me to sculpt it too. Here is one of my favorite Dilo sculpts by Andrea Leanza. viewmorepics.myspace.com/index.cfm?fuseaction=viewImage&friendID=148679226&albumID=1625665&imageID=20926014. I love CM studios work! That is a company that I would love to work for some day. You did not come off as negative, in fact it was more supportive! Thanks again for the kind words!
