Ah, it's been a long time since I painted a figure ;D So, I did a couple last week. I have to say I was happy with the results, considering I'm not a pro on painting figures ;D The first is the 2009 WS Nigersaurus. It's the same figure that fell off a cliff and broke it's neck when I was doing a diorama photo Well, I salvaged the figure and decided to experiment with painting it. After all, it was a goner figure anyway. Well, it looks very "different" from the original one ;D I am learning to dry brushing and all that stuff. Still have a long ways to go, but I think it's a whole lot better than the marine reptile I did last year! ;D So here he is, my first 2009 customized figure ;D New life and look for Nigerasaurus ;D A closer look.. I also painted one Invicta figure. I will post it later.

My eyes! my beautiful eyes! agggggggg! just kidding ;0 You've done an excellent job ;D ;D ;D Just the reaction I was hoping for! ;D ;D ;D LOL! Well thank you all for your nice comments ;D I have found it truly relaxing painting some of the figures. I may do more as time permits. For now, my "restored" Nigera is joined by the newly painted Invicta Cetio. Wow, I truly believe the difficulty that others had with Invicta figures! Even after priming the figure, I had a hard time painting it and having the paint stay! It truly is fragile! The interesting thing is that it's only on a few spots that the paint had a hard time sticking. I have not had that problem when I painted the marine reptiles last year Well, here he is, my newly repainted CetiO! ;D And here they both are, my 2009 repainted sauropods ;D I'm hoping to paint more big sauropods sometime ;D

Very well done, boki! ;D Yah, I wanted something "daring" as far as color combination goes ;D The nigera did fix up really nicely ;D Can't tell that she was resurrected from the dead! One of this days I may do a Zebra pattered Sauropod! Now that should be daring, yah?

At least I know I'm not colorblind ;D I like the zebra effects. Keep on painting, I like your take on things, it gives the figures a modern analog feel. Thanks! ;D I like the Zebra effect, too ;D

Looks like the paintjob used on the Apato model in the new issue of PT..impressive.
Now how or earth did you manage to break it's head off ?
I can recall dropping my carnegies I don't know how many times....the paint job would get worn...but never broke a head off... :?

some great looking paints there on that problem with the invictas not wanting paint to stick. Have you tried washing them in a vinegar water bath prior to the basecoat? It's a model railroad technique. It can get rid of any mold-release residue and if you soak it a little it will put a very fine etch on, so that there is more texture for the paint to stick to. Said the guy who hasn't actually painted any dinos.

I've tried that. I bathe all of them before I start painting any. It is just an interesting little issue with the invictas, and the marine reptiles are the worst---so smooth, no texture at all really. Kinda makes dry brushing pointless. Not that I am allowed to paint my invicta marine ones anyway. BlackDanter has given the ok--if I can tolerate the smiting--but Susan still protects them from my brushes. I think she likes them shiny. Maybe I should paint theem while she is asleep, and seal them with a high gloss....?
