So I have never actually found any of these: From the I Dig Prehistoric Sharks sets. I am wondering--does anyone have any of these? Are they worth pursuing at all? I realize they are somewhat cartoony--more like the Dino Magic figures than Dinotales. But they appear unique. For that matter, what species are they supposed to be? Helicoprion is pretty obvious, and Megalodon. I would guess that the yellow one is Iniopteryx, and the striped green one might be a pleuracanth of some sort. I don't even know what that red one is supposed to be--a goblin shark?

Looks like the green one is xenacanthus and the goblin shark one is a prehistoric goblin shark.

What do you think of it? How big is it? Are they something worth pursuing? I can't order from Amazon.com (Canadian) and Amazon.ca doesn't carry them--they seem pretty pricey, but maybe I am misjudging their size. i have one and its found on amazon.com I own the helicoprion there is also echinochimera megalodon orthacanthus and scapanorhynchus.

So, I have been obsessing about how to get these sharks--since no one can help me out, I will just do the next best thing and bring them into my gift store! Note: I am working towards bringing in the whole line of FameMaster puzzle figures too, in case anyone wants to know... Anyway, as I was cruising through their catalogue, I came across this set: It is another dig set, and at first I thought that they had gone insane with their creations. The ammonite and sponge are cool, and unique, but the monster seemed like something out of a bad movie where Italians pretend to be from Florida. Then I found this image at Wikipedia (supported elsewhere) while looking for images of Terminonaris (different reasons): So apparently there is an incredibly ungly crocodile named Dakosaurus (andiniensis, for what it's worth). And now of course I must have this weird thing as well (since the only other Thalattosuchians made seem to be Metriorhynchus). Just thought I'd share this bizarre yet serendipitous discovery. And I guess we should pay closer attention to APII, since they seem to be willing to try almost anything!

Lovely finding S.! How much will they cost? I will have to check numbers--they are considered a medium, so probably $15 -$20. I will update in the a.m. when I have my price lists handy. If enough people show interest, I can probably order them in fairly quickly through my store, possibly offering some sort of discount. I say possibly because, while I am in charge and can make these decisions, it is in support of my Centre; our funding is pretty much gift shop and admissions. It is our policy that if what we order is 'dino-related' than it needs to be bought through the store. On the other hand, with a large number of orders, it would allow me to do an order at all right now (otherwise, things are too slow to justify before next spring). Only issue--can't Paypal or anything like that. Needs to be credit card, and shipping will be extra (perhaps the discount would offset that). I guess I need people to let me know what they think. Plus, I'd need the CCs in advance as guarantees (they would only be run once the items came in, otherwise the records hit the shredder).

Well,I looked things up--the Sea Monster Dig would probably retail at about $20, once shipping to the store, etc., is considered.
So that should also give an idea of how muc to expect to pay anywhere--they came out this year, but I haven't actually found someone that carries them yet, so who knows what's happening with it.

Dakosaurus! The beasty became famous a year or so ago when it was featured on the cover of National Geographic mag. They nicknamed it 'Godzilla'
