Then again, the real deal would be worth around 3000 bucks.

it doesnt look too different from the brown Tric they released for the third film(which I have) the pose is even similar.
now if it was a replica of a Jp figure of a species that hasnt been made as a JP toy yet(like the ceratosaurus from the 3rd film), then I could understand paying so much. But there have been at least 3 trics already(that I know of.) pretty easy to find.

The WWD Ornithocheirus is prob the winner from what I've read in the past.
If you come across one of those Pachyrhinos for around 100.00 you let me know Roselarr ..even it's just the dino by itself.
You have to think like a JP fan..we have had no new products of a collectible nature..so the money spent on JP Toys has accumulated for some. A new item finally appears and some of us have deep pockets..so there is how they the funds.
I don't myself..but it is a neat piece..a 100.00 is about the most I would go..and is about the price of a sculpture. In regards to size this piece is about the same as the Lost World Stego.

So let this be a lesson--to anyone with modelling skill, put your talents to recreating whatever it is that JP toy fans want--apparently they will spend beyond common sense to have it (wasn't there some kind of T.rex that they always go on about? Make one of those). It's just occurred to me what you were talking about...the unreleased 'Gulper' T. rex...there's a picture of an unpainted sample on JPToys. Someone could make a LOT of money selling that...in fact, it says at JPToys that "an unpainted prototype sold for $500 on eBay". Catalogue advert here. www.jptoys.com/toy-database/jurassic-park/jurassic-park-series-2/prototypes/gulper-rex/img/dist_catalog_gulper.jpgIt's ostensibly the same thing as the Lost World 'Bull' T. rex, which would go on to be repainted and then spawn the JP2K9 T. rex.

^ JackHornerish colour scheme there. Wich is interesting on a JP universe, thinking that Horner was so involved with the movies... Still, it doesn't really fit somehow, because that colouration was supposed for a scavenger Rex wich in the movie was totally not... Besides that, it's an interesting colouration -and surely JP collectors would love to own one. I would indeed. But I wouldn't love to pay a lot for one-.

You could just buy the new Rex which is pretty much the same piece and have it re-painted..

so its like the LW bull T-rex but its big enough to swallow the smaller dino figs? heh... interesting. and yeah I feel for JP fanatics. It sucks that all they get are repaints nowadays. And repaints of the same figures. Why dont they release repainted versions of some of the older figures like the first Carnotaurus, Gallimimus and roaring T-rex?

It has to do with what Hasbro received when they bought Kenner I believe...it's possible the molds and prototypes no longer exist for them.
There were rumors of brand new dino figures being released for the TRU only JP line..but nothing has been seen yet.

I can understand..but if you want one and the choice is between 50.00 or 500.00..it's an easy decision. You may also luck up on eBay and find the Bull Rex for 20.00 or so.

I remember they released a 2nd carnotaurus for LW, different sculpt. It was so ugly, just wasnt the same.

If they had any sense they would have all new Carno sculpted but painted in the same colors as the first one ...

It sucks that all [JP fans] get are repaints nowadays. That wouldn't bother me if they were repaints of the Kenner toys rather than the rubbish JP3 ones! ...That said, the JP2K9 T. rex isn't strictly a repaint, as it features a different body with articulated legs, new electronics etc. I had to snap one up, in spite of the eyewatering £50 price tag...

The big JP2K9 Rex is the best thing to be released by Hasbro since 2001. I hope they take notice of the praise and love going around for this figure and draw their conclusions as to which figures they should repaint for new lines... fat chance though.

You may also luck up on eBay and find the Bull Rex for 20.00 or so. Buying Rexes on ebay is never a good choice, because to those 20 you need to add the shipping cost for huge packages. So, you end paying the same price as if you buy it brand new in a shop.

True, but you might luck out and find one cheaper.
I would suggest looking locally...but eBay is actually ruining local sales like at flea markets and yard sales making them think they can get the same price.
