Hi everyone. I’ve been a huge fan of this forum for some time (yes, I was lurking so I decided it was time to register and introduce myself. I have a MA in Biology (specializing in the evolution and ecology of salamanders) and am currently teaching biology in New York State. I’ve been married for nine years and have two wonderful children. My main biological interests include evolution, marine biology, and of course, paleontology. I’m also a huge Star Wars, horror movie, and sports fan.
I've been “seriously” collecting dinosaurs and other prehistoric animals for about five years now ....although I've been getting prehistoric-related materials since I was a kid. This forum has been an invaluable resource in identifying and learning about the different models that are out there. I pretty much only collect those models that I feel are an accurate representation of that species (or at least gives off the illusion of being accurate…i.e. the Papo Spinosaurus). For example, I’ll probably never own a Schleich Ceratosaurus or a Procon Allosaurus because they’re…well…just awful (no offense to anyone who likes them ;D). I’ll probably never own a Papo Velociraptor or Oviraptor either, because I can’t get past their lack of feathers . My ever-growing collection includes replicas from many different companies (I’ll post some pictures in the near future if anyone is interested), except that I really don’t collect small replicas like Kaiyodo or Bandai. They’re great, don’t get me wrong….I’m just not a fan of their size. I do have a few (the Kaiyodo Hallucigenia goes great with the ROM Primeval Predators set and I love the Play Visions amphibian set) but I usually stick to the larger scale models.
Anyway, thank you for taking the time to read my introduction. I’m sorry if I went on a little too long. I look forward to getting to know some of you!
