Hello! I found this site by chance and have been lurking for a little bit. I have collected dinosaurs since I was a kid (OK a long time ago.)
Don't have the stuff I had as a kid but have been collecting the past 10 years or so.
Love Carnegie, got back into it just in time to catch Battat series ... don't know much about the newer lines, love Kaiyodo, Japanese dinosaurs...

Welcome to the forum!
Lucky you and your Battats. Nowadays, there are some pretty nice mass-produced figures, like those from the Wild Safari and Carnegie Collection lines. Happy collecting!

I know about the Wild Safari line - they sure are giving Carnegie a run for their money the last few years!! What do you think of the German lines, Schleich and Bullyland? I haven't gotten any of them because they were pretty expensive and not accurate like Carnegie. What's the new line I've read somewhere about - Collect?

I don't like the European lines much. I will most likely never own a Schleich, as I think most of their figures are pretty ugly. Bullyland is a bit better, since they do create a lot of species that usually don't get made into figures. I like their non-dinosaurs better than their dinosaurs.
The new line is Collecta, formerly known as Procon. This company is rather hit or miss (usually miss), with most of their figures being quite ugly and cartoony. However, there are a few nice ones like the Olorotitan. Their only upside is that they're extraordinarily cheap (usually around $6 each).

Hello! I'm not a fan of Schleich at all and Bullyland certainly aren't up to Safari standards. Don't forget the worthy vintage Invicta line if you're interested in well-crafted dinosaurs, even if they are out of date now.

They were still in production until 2003 or so. Pet peeve really--like sellers on ebay calling JP toys 'vintage'. No, they're not.

Well, the sculpts are vintage if nothing else...
