Just saw the Dilo and the Dime on Bullyland official website... Man, i'm so disappointed with the Dilo! When i heard it was feathered, i imagined something like the superb restoration of the double-crested dinosaur as seen in Felder and Colagrande "In presence of Dinosaurs" book... Complete (proto)feathered except for the head or something like that... Instead we have an overall improvement over their older Dilophosaurus but still... Ehr, it looks like he has a sort of coat or armor (?!) on his back The Dimetrodon is nicer than his older counterpart, but then again... He, i can almost imagine him saying with a jolly voice (just look at his friggin' grin!): "AH, that Edaphosaurus' steak was reeeeeeeally tasty!" ;D

By the way. The sculptor (Sven Kollhoff) of the Spinophorosaurus is a friend of mine. He asked me to post some of his original sculpts for Spinophorosaurus. So, here they are: This is what Bullyland made of it: The paintjob and these deep wrinkles on the back ain't his work. Your post saves time for me. I´ve already mentioned all that Spinophorosaurus stuff in "Libraraptor´s collection" and wrote I´d post some extra pics of the prototype. Now I don´t have to do this anymore. Yeah, Sven´s not "guilty" about the look of Bullyland´s sauropod. Bullyland´s sculptors are responsible. They did the fashioning. The original is also pretty fugly. Weird (and oversized) head, collapsed chest, awkward stance... But still much better than the final. Why on earth did they destroy it like that? They even removed the thumb claw. Who on earth looked at these two and said "lets go with that one".

the dilophosaurus looks like it is wearing a sweater... yes, and supposedly, it is color-coordinated with its Dimetrodon accessory...

The new 2011 catalog from Safari arrived today. While it's too early to provide anything too precise, it does suggest the new Carnegies will be ready by summer, and at least some of the new WS pieces will be ready by spring.
Also, there is a new photo of the Guanlong, without any of the weird photo-editing or spiky bits. Still looks good. Pricing was revealed as well, so I updated my site to reflect that.

Do you think you can post a picture of the Guanlong, Dan?

They even removed the thumb claw. Who on earth looked at these two and said "lets go with that one". I fear it was Bullylands chief sculptor Peter Kiesinger himself. The man who was responsible for so many good models. And I saw the Dilo and Dime, too. Their Dimetrodon is okay, but the Dilophosaurus... At least it bears feathers.

Nope, that needs to be updated. The newest pic doesn't have the spiky fuzz on it tail.

Just saw the new Bullylands on their website ... I've seen worse. I don't like the Dimetrodon one bit (the color scheme is just like their old Edaphosaurus!), but the Dilopho has a strange appeal to it. If its tail was raised I'd call it perfect; or as perfect as possible for a very inaccurate replica.
Still looking forward to seeing Papo's Ankylo.
And I agree with some of the others here, all of the pictures of the new models should be put together at the beginning of this thread.

The original looks actually good, with very nice details. What an insult to the original artist. Why even bother commissioning a piece when you will alter it beyond recognition? I guess Bully is just determined to alienate collectors with their latest efforts.

Yea, but certain figures appeal to different folks. We all have favorite figures we like, regardless of accuracy, or what others think. I agree the new Bully's are pretty awful--to me. But, Gogonopsid has made very clear her absolute love of anything pre-dino..... That dimetro really isn't the worst thing that I have ever seen. It's just very....err...retro-ish, I guess. I think I am disappointed because I keep getting spoiled by Carnegie and Wild Safari, along with companies like Kinto and Kaiyodo. The trend to produce more and more accurate, up to date and realistic replicas--NOT toys. Bully seems to be retreating back to Toy status. I don't like it, but perhaps they feel there is a better market for toys as opposed to serious collectors..??
