Anybody else looking forward to this? I am, I love first person shooters and COD is probably my favorite video game series of all time. This time treyarch is making it, like they did with World At War back in 2008. WaW wasn't very good (campaign was very boring, only got about halfway through it before I just couldn't do it anymore) and the multiplayer left much to be desired. However, based on the trailers shown for this so far this looks very promising and it looks like it may be on par with Modern Warfare 2. Wager match trailer Customization Trailer Campaign trailer One thing I like about this is that it looks like people will truely have to WORK for their killstreaks. You will have to actually wield a minigun and manually fire it instead of just placing a sentry gun somewhere, you'll have to actually chase people down with your chopper and avoid RPG fire etc..... Can't wait for November 11th

Since I don't play a lot of FPS multiplayer I'm more concerned about the single player. Modern Warfare 2 (which was of course developed by Infinity Ward) was very good if perhaps a little over-scripted, meaning that it missed out on some replay value. The trip through wartorn America was a bit of a slog, but the scenes around famous landmarks in Washington DC had real power and were a blast to play.
The story was mental, of course - wouldn't a US-Russian war quickly result in an exchange of nuclear missiles? Still, I imagine that a nuclear holocaust would result in a somewhat shorter game!
Hopefully this game will have a greater scope for more variable firefights a la Crysis and Half-Life 2. Certainly the Vietnam-set levels look like a good opportunity for this.

Treyarch does mediocre work. I'm still happy with TF2.
Aren't we supposed to keep all this in the designated "Games" thread, though?

That's just forum games I think, I think actual videogames go in general. Since I don't play a lot of FPS multiplayer I'm more concerned about the single player. You don't play multiplayer?! For shame In MW2 I think the russians were trying to capture america first before really bombing it to death. I don't know. The scenes in Washington DC made me angry though, I was like "Now how the hell can they go and do THIS?!" ;D Beautiful graphics though, most parts of it looked like actual footage of war. I hope black ops can compare to it.

(Dan:) Well that's for the admins to decide, but I imagine that as long as we don't start getting umpteen game-related threads we'll be alright.

What?! You don't play multiplayer?! For shame ...The scenes in Washington DC made me angry though, I was like "Now how the hell can they go and do THIS?!" ;D I do play a little PC multiplayer but only on LAN when I'm at home. I still play Quake 3 on LAN, as it's still by far the best deathmatch game ever made. I also play, believe it or not, Command & Conquer: Generals (still!). And I'm intrigued about what you said there - why would they make you angry (even if only semi-seriously)? Apart from the fact that they were a bit absurd!

It was more like a "How can you do this to my country?!" type of thing. I guess that made it a good game, you usually see things blowing up and stuff like that more in the middle east in video games, not america. I don't know how I missed the capital building on the official MW2 poster, though.

Oh I see! "You're a dying bleed, the frag-waving American!"
Man, I'd love a game like that to bet set in London. I'd be right up there firing an RPG at the Houses of Parliament. I had a blast blowing it up as the Scrin in C&C 3!

COD FTW!!!!!!!!!! Unfortunately, I have no PS3 . The only FPS I have are Halo, Battlefield 1942 and...and...and...oh, I have Halo 2, but I only have an XP and it needs Vista or better to run.

You are a PC gamer? Not that there's anything wrong with that, it's actually more of a challenge, the multiplayer PC gamers are a tough crowd (compare cod4 on wii to cod4 on pc - on the wii it takes one game to get to level 6, on pc it takes 2 hours). I have this for the wii, and... it's fantastic, better than anything I expected. I didn't expect much from the campaign, and since it's the wii I didn't expect good graphics, and they're both great. The multiplayer of this game is really cool, there's a lot of campers at first who get high streaks through that method but once you get past level ten and are with a slightly more "aged" crowd it gets a lot more fun. I'm level 24! It takes me about 3 games of TDM to get through each level. So far I'm absolutely loving the FAMAS and the AK74u

I actually only play multiplayer at school, dad's a bit of a strict bloke about online games. Halo multiplayer got blocked at school, so its just good ol' BF1942 for me at school, and occasionally Halo campaign. Oh, and I forgot about the MOH (Medal of Honour) and COD games I have for PS2 (that I hardly ever play, and there's no internet for PS2, and I'm more of a sports game fan on PS2. Plus, I can hardly aim a gun on FPS games, so how am I gonna go if WW3 breaks out [as it inevitably will]?)

It's no different from using the internet, is your dad afraid you'll be playing COD with a pedo or something?! ;D
I'm level 40 now, 15 more to go. Just unlocked the AK, liking that one a lot!

Treyarch kicks ass they don't baby their games by giving them unrealistic gore physics like Infinity Ward
