Here are some pics of my skull collection. These are my nicer ones, but far from the full collection. Most everything else is in storage or at my folks house. Awesome skulls not shown are my Springbok, Bison, Pronghorn, Horse, Goat, Coyote, and Opossum. I'll get around to those one of these days but until then, Enjoy!! Bonus Cookie to anyone who can name them all!!

Cool collection, got some real exotic ones there. I also collect skulls but most of mine are local wild and domestic animals. Some of my favorites include a pig, star nosed mole, pickerel and bat, I'll have to post pictures some time.

Nice I too have the skull itch, and my brother in law has a large dermestid colony, so I have some nice articulations as well. Naming will be tough, but I'll give it a go - Top - Some sort of Owl ? (Barred maybe? - the angle makes this one tough for me), Salthingyer Crocodile, Male Baboon, Some kind of Gull (Ringbill?) Grizzly. Next - Pronghorn? Cow Above bottom - Monkfish? Otter, Bobcat, Raccoon, Coyote, Beaver. Bottom - Rabbit, Tiger, Another Salty, Black Bear, Woodchuck. So, how close am I?

Pretty close! Top shelf: hawk, Nile Croc, don't know what kind of gull, lion Middle: White tail, cow Above bottom: spot on! Bottom: all right except not a tiger, it's a sea lion. You get a cookie anyway!

No, and I could be wrong. The eye sockets look way larger due to a good chunk of "cheek" bone missing so that may lend itself to the owl appearance. But I really don't know for sure. I'll post better pics soon and we can all make better guesses then.

Wow yeah the grizzly skull really threw me. The absence of teeth really can be confusing!
Any chance that hawk skull could be something like a nightjar?

"Any chance that hawk skull could be something like a nightjar?"
Too large for anything North American. I initially thought hawk, and then decided owl, mostly because of the size of the orbits. Its most likely a hawk (the nasal area really looks hawk-ish to me) just broken up some and thus tricking us into thinking its something else. Could even be a nestling/fledgeling, as that would affect shape too.

Oh true I guess if it was a younger animal the proportions could be a little different. What about something more falcon-like? Its just that the beak looks so small.
