It's funny seeing their figures together in that pic, though. All their colors are so bland, bland, bland! And the new Tylo just blends right in, hehe. To be fair, in real life their colors are a bit more vibrant, but only a bit. I'll still be getting it, though. Gotta have me a complete Papo dino collection! I'll just be "enhancing" the colors like I did on most of the others. ;D (Which reminds me, I still need to get their Anky!) The funny thing about the way the Paposaurs are juxtaposed in that ad is that they've actually removed all the dinosaurs that had even a hint of colour (e.g Styracosaurus, Pachycephalosaurus, and Oviraptor)!. This effect, deliberate or not, makes the dullness even more pronounced. Yes, I will also get the Tylo to finish my collection (Papo's dinosaur line is a fairly easy collection to complete for beginner collectors like myself). I am only missing the brown raptor

I don't believe Papo climaxed with the Pachyrhinosaurus. The Styracosaurus was superior to the Pachyhrinosaurus. The Euoplocephalus was also quite accurate with only one major flaw (essentially, tapered hips). I'm also under the impression that the Papo "Nessie" was designed by a different sculptor. It seems that the Papo Mosasaurus was inspired by "The Land that Time Forgot": www.eccentric-cinema.com/images2004/movie_pix_j-p/land_time_forgot01.jpgI think the biggest issue with their Euoplocephalus is that it wasn't one--it is officially an Ankylosaurus, and a nicely made figure, but any retroactive naming by fans is just after-the-fact excuses. I bet I'm the only one here who loves the Papo Tylosaurus--I don't care how incredibly inaccurate it is, it looks remarkably gorgeous and retro. Will definitely be saving up for one of those. Would your favourite part be the strange, slashed up skin? Honestly, can someone explain why we keep getting this particular skin texture from European manufacturers (Bully Spinophorosaurus, Mojo Brachiosaurus, now this 'tylosaurus')? It doesn't even makes sense--it's not like the skin is textured well to represent monitor lizard or snake skin (which would be appropriate). And it's not fair to refer to it as 'retro' or "Crystal Palace-like", because Hawkins 1) didn't sculpt the majority of the body, since he didn't know it; and 2) got the neck right: There are some older reconstructions from sculptures, paintings and films that could label the pose as " retro " easily enough. Like the Marx Kronosaurus ..it's pretty inaccurate...but no less liked. Would I like a more accurate piece ? Yeah, sure. Will I still buy this one..sure thing. It reminds me of all those old films, paintings and such I used to read all the time. Placed beside the Carnegie one it can show old and new ideas..so still useful even.

I wouldn't buy a figure just in order to complete a collection. For example: My Battat collection won't ever be complete because I'll never buy that ugly Stegosaurus, not even for $5,- ;D!

Some bigger, more hi-def pics of the four new Safari figs... With seeing their details much better with these, I'm liking them a lot better! (Even though I still think the Vaga is a bit of a boring Ceratops choice with all the other more flamboyant head dresses out their still to be made.) HOLY CRAP i want the ceratosaurus most but they all look really, really nice, should be a good year ;D

So okay, Papo has made a marine reptile for the first time. I didn´t hold it in my hands yet, but judging from that picture I say it´s a miss unfourtunately.

Mmh, lookin' at those larger pics of the WS guys, i have to say the Cera looks better than i thought... Still not the roaring horned predator of doom i hoped for, but very good indeed And then there's the Papo Tylosaurus... My first reaction after seeing him was, well, i was rather disappointed as you probably noticed, but the more i look at that pic, the more i begin to, ehm, tolerate him... He has a cute smile afterall, and i bet if he could talk he'd say: "Please, sid, don't leave me behind; please, PLEASE, fix my neck, it hurts like hell!"... Sooooooo, i get that MAYBE i'll get him too ;D

Unfortunately I have seen reptiles with this type of posing. So maybe it's a Tylosaur with a calcium deficiency. ;D

I received an e-mail from Safari Ltd. today, pointing out that the new Vagaceratops is most definitely not based on Angie's painting, but the display at the Canadian Museum of Nature. "While there are some similarities the real inspiration for our coloring came from the life-sized models of Vagaceratops that are on display at the Canadian Museum of Nature. Please see the attached image. CMN houses the holotype for Vagaceratops and our sculptor did the restoration of the holotype skull. He brought this dinosaur to our attention and we liked the coloring of the life-sized models and chose to go with something similar."This also means that Safari does monitor the forum. They are probably having a good laugh at Papo's expense right now.

Those new pictures help a lot. I have no major complaints about the two herbivores and am fine with the Vega, any obscure ceratopsid is better than none...or another triceratops. The Acro's feet are large but I'm willing to pay that price if they help it stand better. My only real complaint is the Cerato, I was hoping it would look more similar to the Allosaurus from a few years back, more gracile perhaps.

Ceratosaurus looks nice! Although it could use more color... nothing repainters can't handle.

By seeing the Ceratro, i really like it, how big is it supposed to be, I just want it to not look so small against the papos.... Dan has sizes on his site : stores.homestead.com/hstrial-Dliebman2/-strse-445/Ceratosaurus-by-Wild-Safari/Detail.bokThis also neat..I believe the Vaga will be the 2nd dino figure to be based on an animatronic dinosaur that wasn't in a film.
