Tried this in the customs section, got a bunch of views, but no help. If nobody has advise, just leave me a reply in the thread saying so so i can delete it. So I was contacted by a nice man from Italy about painting a Horizon Jurassic Park Velociraptor. I guess he liked the one I posted on deviant art and here, and would like a duplicate. I've never done commission work, so i need advise, how much should I charge for a figure this size?I will be building and painting. How long should my turn around be? Is my work even good enough? lol. If you can help me with this, please do, i don't want to be a rip off, and I don't want to do the service for free either.

It's really based more on what you think your work is worth..but I can understand you not wanting to go overboard or cheat yourself. An easy method is you can figure up how many hours you have into it and then add a price per hour of work..whether that's minimum wage or a bit higher you will have to figure out.
Since you've done this one before you can give the customer a ballpark estimate on price and time..point out that it may take a bit longer or maybe quicker depending on time and such. Keep them updated and you should be fine. That's the way I like to operate. Also the money building and painting the kit shouldn't include shipping..keep those numbers separate...makes it easier on you and sounds better to the customer in my opinion.

Hey ,here is a good practice to follow, I charge $8.50 per inch. so a foot long model will be about 100 or a 6 inch model about 50 and so on ,in this case this Raptor kit is about 30"long over the curve so that would total to about 255$ give or take and being Vinyl i would add about $1.00 per inch due to the extra work needed on a vinyl kit such as heating the parts and filling the inside and putting plaster or apoxie into the inside of the feet so you have a sturdy sorce to drill and pin a rod into for mounting . I would charge 285$ for this one and then add shipping . thats how i roll.
