Ok, so I was wondering. I have been reading about how the Papo stego is a bad figure, or weak, because of some of the inaccuracies. So when I was repainting it ( I KNOW, I just can't seem to help it ) I was thinking. Many animals show sexual dimorphism. So could we speculate that a female stego might be larger in size and proportion, and be less ornate in the size and coloration of the plates? Then we could say this is a female stego, and not so bad after all? I still really like it, but have not seen the new bullyland or wild safari, etc. in person. Anyway here is the repaint. Also, Susan agreed about the corythosaurus, so here is another take on that as well. See, I LISTEN to y'all ;D This actually futhers my view that flashy markings and bright coloration don't seem to work well on these animals, especially the larger species. If it ain't doing it for you at this scale, try to imagine a 40 animal in primary red..... One quick note. The flash has the same affect as sunlight would on the colores, in that they appear less subdued and subtle than they do to my naked eyes. I have regular old light bulbs here, so even though they look subtle and drab to me, the flash says otherwise.

In terms of physical accuracy, the best ones are the newest Wild Safari Stego and the Battat stego (except for the extra spikes).
The most notable thing is the head--these are the only ones where the head really appears to be small enough. I am guessing that this is because the head is so tiny, most sculptors just make it bigger for simplicity sake. But in the new Safari one, the head is extremely tiny, yet it is still fully detailed. The figure is 6.75" long, yet the head is about 1/4".

I liked the original stegosaurus paint, but yours is cool too.

Those look great, but I actually preferred the original Corythosaurus.

Those look great, but I actually preferred the original Corythosaurus. Well, at least I posted photos of it first....I didn't mind it, but I tend to listen to Susan's opinions. Maybe because she is tolerant enough to have dinos all over her living room.... I like the new paint better personally, I think it is more likely. I love all the odd and unique colors, in theory. They just don't feel right in 3-d. Ah, who knows? They may have been giant walking neon signs for all wa can know....

I liked the original stegosaurus paint, but yours is cool too. 8- well, that's a funny story, really. When I first got him, I liked him, but had a particular image from the cover of a dino book I wanted to recreate. So I deepened the green, added stripes, and painted the plates yellow with red rims and details. And it looked just like the pic. But, recently. I was longing to return it to the original, but could not get all the paint off, especially out of the cracks or off of the plates. So, I repainted a little more subdued. The inspiration for the style of body coloring was the Jurassic Fight Club stego. Theirs is a little more brown and grey, but there ya go. The same sort of thing happened with the Papo trike. I painted him colorful and cool, but ended up going back to the earth tones after all. THAT is why I have pledged to leave the Allo be when it arrives, hopefully tomorrow or Tues. ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D *sighs happily*

Excellent stego, i love it. Its still my faviourite model of a stegosaurus to date. You should buy 2 Allo's because i wan't to see how he turns out with one of your paint jobs, a grey, black and white Allo would look mean.

Are the plates actually bigger on this stegosaurus? Or is it my imagination?

Are the plates actually bigger on this stegosaurus? Or is it my imagination? Nope, standard Papo stego. ( say THAT three times fast...) It is an illusion of the paint job. I WISH they were taller and pointier (technical term, I suppose... ), but did the best I could ;D
