i have been working on a duck bill carcass at work on my lunch, which is a parasaurolophus- ao you should like it wheezy. I will probably make a 'live' one for the set- it is also one of my favorites. This reminds me of one of my favorite quotes from its a great pumpkin charlie brown." You didn't tell me you where going to kill it, WHaaaaa". Anyways I am glad that a living specimen may be added to your set.

Thanks crazycrowman -I am using Gregory Paul as my influence for this Dilo. He consulted with Roger when he sculpted the full size Rush one and having cast and painted more than a few of these Rush dilos, i just can't drift too far from it. The only thing I want to do is to get away from the straight in line pose of the Rush one, want to make the head turned and the body twisting a bit. I want to try to make some toys that have some of the dynamics of a lot of the new cool art that is being made on dinos.

I like the Charlie brown quote- after I posted that I had thought- hey you just told that guy his favorite dino is going to be a carcass- so as thanks for the 1/40 formula and all of your other advice I will include the parasaurolophus in the set, as i want at least one duckbill and that is certainly the most visually intersting, and as a former musician, I dig that dude with the horn.

I had wanted to add I would put in a vote for uniformly colored figures if you would want to prep them that way to keep prices down. It would be fantastic to have some of your work to display alongside the old invicta figures Like invicta 2008-2009

I was thinking of making two versions of each set- a version that would be solid colors, cheaper cost- and a deluxe version that would be painted. Custom fanatic could get the cheaper solid colored sets to repaint as they saw fit. i have always liked the invicta toys. I bought some way back when- still have them in a box in the garage somewhere. I bought them when they first came out. I especially liked the whale for some reason.

Awesome. I'll definitely take a solid color set for nostalgia reasons when it comes out, i grew up with the Marx and Invicta dinos. I'm excited about that dilo! Here's a dilo-coelophysis-human scale chart:

He is coming along very well. what a beauty. By the way, how much would you sell a figure this size so we get an idea of what the pricing would be.

Price? I haven't thought that far ahead. I would have to do a bit of research- see what toys sell for. Not much though, this guy is small compared to models i usually make. I would base it on how much material is used and how much time is involved to cast and do any flashing cleanup. I do not factor in the time it takes to make the sculpt, that is fun, not work so I ignore the time spent sculpting. I can say one thing- I can't compete price wise with mass produced toys from China. My toys would be basically hand made in my home or at work on my lunch break. I never eat lunch at work- haven't done so for 15 years. I always have a deal with my bosses wherever I work that i can work on my own stuff on my breaks. I always try to make my stuff reasonably priced- my models are very competetive when i see what others charge for models, and I see no reason why any toys I make won't be as well. These will be more like art editions - like when artists issue lithographs or glicees- limited numbers will be produced due to the fact that I am just one guy making these things on top of having a full time job.

would these then be priced roughly like museum lines like carnegie or battat . Where a figure this size would be between 6 - 10 dollars depending on size. Or pricey like the dinostoreus brand some $60.00 a piece.

I would think they wouldn't be pricey like dinostoreus- there is no way I would be charging 60.00 for this toy Dilo- thats in the range of what I charge for the roughly 18" dilo model I have posted on my classified thread- this toy dilo would be more in line with the 6-10 range like those lines carnegie, battat. That would be a price for a single toy- I would imagine that a set would be more economical than buying individually, we shall see.
