The ROM dino collection (finally complete) and their Primeval Predators collection (both lumped together becuase they are ROM "products"). The Quarter in some photos is for scale. The ROM Dinos I have grown attached to these ones. As many have remarked, they are like the Marx, Invicta, MPC figures from well before todays painted figures. They have an elegance and charm that I did not fully appreciate until I got a couple with the Pteranodon figure. The Burgess Shale "Primeval Predators" Set I love these figures in part because of the attention to detail and the fact that they are moulded in color with limited painting instead of a complete paint job. Are the colors biologically right - probably not - but they have a garish & charming look. Both sets united togther (becuase oh what the heck). Sorry for the glare on the Pik. (little white figures are a disater to photo on a grey desk...)

The Burgess Shale figs are a true gem, I wish other companies produced that kind of creatures *imagines a Vendian playset*

I agree, I would love to see more of late-Precambrian through Carboniferous inverts in production.

Thanks! The Paralophosaurus & Ichthosaur were the two that I was chasing down. I linitially lucked out in getting about half of the set in one ebay auction (had the pterosaur in it) and then was able to buy the rest either through auctions or direct. I too love the Primeval Predator set. I still consider it to be a great buy - price and quality wise. I would recommend the set hands-down. It is still available from the ROM also.

I bought the whole set of Dinosaurs, when I first saw them, back when they first came out!

I first came across that dinosaur line while in the Smithsonian when I was 12! That would have made it 1986.I remember they had all but Albertosaurus and Chasmosaurus in bins in the gift shop along with the Invicta Stegosaurus and Triceratops and the first Quetzalcoatlus model I ever saw available (a tie in to the Imax movie about the flying model Quetzalcoatlus that came out at the time) My parents wouldn't let me be greedy and get them all,so I had to choose....so I got the Invicta Stegosaurus,ROM Pteranodon and that Quetzalcoatlus ;D As much torture as it was for me to leave the others behind,I would end up getting the rest of those species through other sets through the years ;D

I have a couple of the Smithsonian Quetzal tie ins. I have always been curious as to what else they had.
I have a Quetzal figure in a plastic bag that has the QN logo that the Smithsonian used. It is distinct from the one that was later used in their Smithsonian Collection (the dino-rider ones). I have a wooden 3D puzzle and a navy blue dress tie (again both with the QN logo).
They can be seen in the second set of photos in my pterosaur collection post.

I used to see the ROMs every time I went to the Calgary Zoo, well into the late 80s. Guess how many I was allowed to purchase? Not a single one; I've only ever (briefly) owned the Stenopterygius.
This may explain some of my lenience toward my kids in gift shops...

It's good to hear that I am not the only Dad who goes a bit "soft" in the gift shop also.
