New Product Announcement Sideshow Spinosaurus
[ I was holding off on this per Tony McVey's request, but since he's already announced it in Prehistoric Times #91, I suppose the cat's out of the bag. ]
Paleoartist Tony McVey has been collaborating with Sideshow Collectibles to produce a statue based on the popular predator, Spinosaurus. No official announcements or media have been released from Sideshow at this time, but further details will be posted here as they become available. According to McVey, the official unveiling is scheduled to take place in 2010.

If they make the head accurate on it (something even the likes of Trcic haven't managed to get *quite* right) then...well, I can make do with one kidney.

Any info on the size of this critter yet?

I hope they don't get the head wrong and I hope its a clean spino like the carnegie no pieces of loose skin hanging off.

I bet they get the head wrong I don't know, most of the models so far have got minor details right. I'm expecting all the weird features to be present and correct.

UPDATE:
Well, Tony told me last night that the Spinosaurus (which he is working on and hasn't cast yet) will be in a larger scale than his running TRex, which was 1/30 if memory serves me correctly.
Given that Tony has given us THE finest TRex sculpt I've yet seen, I am optimistic that he'll do the same for the Spino.
