Hi everyone, just wanted to introduce myself. My name is Jo, I'm from the Netherlands and (dare I say it aloud , a dinosaur-fan for as long as I remember. I even have a genuine Spinosaurus tooth and genuine Tyrannosaurus rex bone fragments I ended up here after a day-long search online for dinosaur models. I'm an amateur artist who loves to draw dinosaurs and during viewing of a drawing dinosaurs dvd, the author of the dvd mentioned using models for your drawing, especially for the light and shadows. So I started a search online for dino models, preferably scientifically accurate. I found the Collecta (formerly Procon) range which I like and decided to look further. Through a search on my favorite dinosaur (Brachiosaurus) on eBay, I found other brands offering models and this website. At the moment I waiting for a Microraptor, Iguanodon and Sin(o)raptor from Carnegie and a Triceratops from Papo, to be delivered as a start. I have two very large dinosaur models already, a T-rex and Velociraptor from the 4D company. One side is the animal's skin, the other shows the bones, muscles and internal organs. (I have a thing with anatomy, you should see my dinosaur skull and skeletons reconstruction folder!) I'm gonna start and read all the post on this forum. I hope to get some useful feedabck about the different models. Any questions? Please ask!

Hi Parabuteo, welcome! I'm glad you found the forum, I'm sure you'll enjoy yourself here. Don't mention the Procon line, though, many members are hostile towards them! Haha, I personally love the line too (as I know Boki and Sbell do), they're very unique.
Welcome again! theri

I´d like to join the "Welcome" - choir. You definitely found the right people to hang around with You know, most of us are dinosaur lunatics and can´t get enough of owning some... ;D Hope I see some of your artwork soon! Many greetings from Germany to the Netherlands! This year, again many people from the Netherlands again enjoyed their "Krokus" - holidays in the Sauerland, the region in Germany where I live. And yeah, just another CollectA lover. Some of theme are unfourtunately underestimated

Cheers from Canada! This forum has turned me into an even greater dinosaur fan! I started out only collecting pterosaurs now I'm into other groups also. The group members have a pretty diverse knowledge base to draw on and in general are quite friendly (even if they have not had their shots ;D lol). I like the Collecta line also.

Welcome to the forum!
I sell some of the newer dinosaur figures in my store if you're looking to get good deals - forum members get big discounts on all my inventory. I just sent out a Safari crocodile to the Netherlands a few days ago, actually, so the delivery path has already been paved.
I would suggest visiting our art forum in particular, if you're looking for references on dinosaur illustrations. We have many artists here, and I'm sure they'd be able to provide you with great feedback.
Enjoy your stay.

Thanks for the welcome, everyone! I'll post some of my art in the artforum soon. When I get my scanner to work again...
I understand not everybody likes CollectA, there are some figures which look wrong and cartoony but there are some nice ones too. I just got the confirmation that my Papo Triceratops has been shipped from the UK so I'm anxious to see that.
Dan, thanks for the offer. The good quality models like Carnegie, Wild Safari and Papo are not easy to find here. And I'm not always in the mood for long bidding wars on eBay, so a dependable seller is always welcome.
Thanks again for the welcome!

I've already asked you several times to conduct your business through the classifieds section of the forum and via PM (Private Message), which I think is a very fair thing to ask. Please consider this a first official warning, it's a three strikes and you're out policy. I'm making this public so everyone is aware of the situation, but I request that nobody responds to this post, thanks.

Hello Para!
I hope you enjoy your stay. I supposed I'll add I'm a fan of the Safari ltd. lines mainly - Wild Safari being my greatest interest.
I also collect any and all Tyrannosaurus toys. My collection is and always has been largest in the Rex catergory. ;D

Thanks again for the warm welcome! I'd like to add though that CollectA isn't the only line I'm into. It was just the first collection of dinotoys I came across in a Dutch webshop (I try to find the models I want downhere first). Since then I have learned that there are much more companies making toys. I'm waiting for three Carnegies and a Papo for example. Tyrannax, have you got this Rex as well? (Thumbs are clickable)

Hi Kiki, no, I didn't find this guy among the Tulips. Although there is a large Tulipfield near my house I bought the Rex in a local shop together with a Velociraptor. At the moment those are the only two models I have got. If you click on one of the thumbs, you are taken to a gallery were you can also find photos of the Velociraptor. The models are solid on one side, the side pictured here, the other side is see-through and shows the muscles, bones and such. The Rex is over 58 cm long (23 inches) and the raptor is over 48 cm long (19 inches). There is also a Triceratops model which I'm looking for at the moment, the shop is inquiring for me. The models are made by a Hong Kong manufacturer.

They're pretty high quality, too. Nice details. The rex's arms could have been a little closer to it's body though and the velociraptor's tail is a little stiff and rigid (It's like it's pointing to something behind it). The tail probably wasn't serpentine but I think it was a little more supple than this. It's hands aren't correct either, it's got JP hands instead of palms-facing-hands-directed-backwards. But they are still nice.
I have some other animals of this line, a shark, a mammoth and others, I have an interest in anatomy, and I noticed the dinosaurs one day in my regular toyshop. I hope to find the Triceratops one day.
