Didn't someone say they were writing a book about dinosaur collectibles? Mike Fredericks did one with estimated values of dinosaur figures. If you are I'd like to know when it will be out and what if will be like.

Mike Fredericks, Joe Demarco and a few other people (I forget the names) mentioned a book they are writing/have written on dinosaur collectibles in the most recent Prehistoric Times (in his discussion of Abbeon ceramics). They are still looking for a publisher.
I should talk to him--this is, after all, the era of the e-book. Anyone with a Paypal account, credit card, or a money order/cheque+patience can download a book (and of course, all of us dino collectors are honest, so no one would think of sharing for free.
But a real book is always superior.

Publish on demand is also possible. along the lines of CafePress but for books. There are a couple of companies out there that do that.

So did anything happen out there that has something to do with this kind of book? I would really, I mean REALLY appreciate a book like that. A kind of a guidebook through dinosaur toy and figure - land. I am really enthralled by the thought of going to bed, having one hour or so to read, and I read a book where I see Dinosaur collectibles or even collections of other maniacs. Should not be as aseptic as some science-fiction figure books (Like this "Boba Fett this and that version 500 Dollars, Han Solo with one eye closed version and a dark brown vest 56 dollars") - stuff with a boring layout. No, it should be a helpful advice and a feast for the eyes (that rhimes ;-) ) at the same time for all us passionates, without the claim of completeness. Wow, this thought is even better than thinking of my own Bullyland Procynosuchus Is there really no person or publisher out there? Thoughts become visions - visions become projects - projects lead to reality. Someday I will have this book on my bed table My next step will be to buy the following book: Dana Cain; Mike Fredericks Dinosaur Collectibles [nach diesem Titel suchen] Antique Trader Books Paperback ISBN: 0930625994 New Artikel-Nr.: 02227 Artikel zur Merkliste hinzufügen. Diesen Artikel weiterempfehlen. 550 weitere Einträge gefunden im Katalog Varia beim Anbieter the book central, Vereinigte Staaten von Amerika (USA ) and see what it lacks

I am one of the guys writing. There are over 200 pages so far (each representing a different company) but remember this only covers until about 1996. There will be an addendum so to speak of post-JP era and lines that bleed into the present (i.e. Bullyland, Schleich, etc.) will be fully covered. If I get my way with the others, I'd include the resin/vinyl kit stuff. I already was able to include Transformer/robo dinos and quasi dinos. The toughest part are probably all the Chinasaurs... Wow! So you can report back to the other that we are all patiently waiting for the book! ;D I hope that you guys can find a publisher So... can I audition to do the photos? LOL ;D ;D

As far as publishers, we have three prospects each reviewing the proposal I recently sent in. For some reason, they'll do books on Shirley Temple Collectibles (no joke) and Animal Figurines in general but not dinosaurs... You probably could contribute photos, Boki...depends on what figures of course. Part of the goal with this book is to include all the omissions from the Cain/Fredericks book and correct some of the errors. I hope you succeed!

Really? ;D That would be cool ;D Of course Randy did not use any of my photos for his article on the latest PT issue You are familiar with my style by now having seen them all at Collectors Quest. Yah something is really wrong when they publish a tacky shirley temple collectible book but not dinosaurs! ;D

Sounds good, although I´d prefer holding something printed and solid in my hands. You can´t take a DVD to bed, can you? On the other hand, a DVD offers you more possibilities for interactive handling and cross reference. Book or DVD - I think completeness is an imortant matter, although I know it is not really possible, for the market has really become difficult to see through. Can we still all contribute with pics or articles? Or is it finished by now? When will it be released, then?

Libraraptor, you can watch DVD's in bed on a laptop There speaks a man of the world ;D Alternatively, you can introduce some Barry White and show your wife/partner page 330 of The Complete Illustrated Encyclopedia of Dinosaurs & Prehistoric Creatures by Dougal Dixon ................................ Nah, didn't work for me either, guess Saltasaurus just doesn't press the right buttons ;D

I must agree. A book would be a faster reference.

Not to forget the haptic experience a DVD just can´t provide. What a pity. Neverthless I´ll buy the DVD when it is released.
