Talk to the guy who designed the digital mammoth in the TV show. He's the one who came up with the enlarged cranium lumps, not me. ;D No offense taken!

More seriously, I like it, but the, uh, bumps need a little more texture maybe? I don't remember the Primeval one that well, but I don't think the lumps were smooth there.

Must be the species "Mammuthus hefneri" which is closely related to "Mammuthus silicon-in-chestus".

Actually, seriously, he is pretty dead on with it: Rember, he is attempting to reproduce the mammoth from the show, not make an accurrate columbian mammoth. Big difference, and his success should be jusdged by how close to the show he got, which is pretty dang close....

The, uh, overall morphology appears correct, but you can see texture- or at least color differentiation that looks like texture - in those photos.

In the last two yes, but the middle one doesn't count too much, as it is a retouched publicity pic, not the actual screen cap. It can also be hard to come close to approximating the look of cgi skin texture. Brushes and washes just don't match up. What he could do, is take a small makeup sponge or stiff brush--a toothbrush even--and try to ad some dappled color to the crowns. I am thinking of experimenting with textures like that for a certain saile backed commission....

Teton - good idea, the toothbrush. I think the dome is a bit too smooth and shiny. Indian elephants have 'freckles' on their heads. Back to the old drawing board. Shouldn't be too difficult of a fix.
