Not exactly prehistoric, but something very "different" ;D I'm sure most of you have seen/heard of the Discovery Channel show these figures are based on.
It's a very odd set of figures indeed. They are supposed to be animals of the "future". The figures are released by a company called NELVANA, never heard of them before.
Like many mini Japanese figure collections ( Kaiyodo, yujin, Sega, etc.), the Future is Wild, too, have a "secret" figure in addition to the six.
Hmm, the Japanese are so big into secret figures!
What can be said about the figures? Well, they are very faithful to the show for sure. However, some of the choices are odd, but interesting.
My favorites are the birds or what ever they turned into. The Carakiller is a good terror bird stand in! The Flish and Gannet whale are both interesting. Yah, the names are just a bit ridiculous, ya?
The giant invertebrates are fascinating concept for sure. As for the secret figure? I'm not sure what it is exactly, looks like a monkey.
I purposely did not rush to try and acquire these figures for two reason: I did not want to pay a lot of $$ for them and I was not sure what I really think of them. However, presented with a good deal, I finally broke down and got the set at a much lower price,$25 for the entire set ;D
I'm not sure if they are still being produced, after all, the show the figures are based on are already a few years old.
Anyway, the collection is interesting and different. It's a nice, welcomed addition to my collection.
Here they are, the Future is... WILD! ;D
The entire Collection! Shown is the box ( they all were in individual boxes) and the monkey looking thing (anyone know what its called?) which is the secret, on top of the box ;D
The Titans: Megasquid and Toraton ;D
Terabyte ( are they mating? ;D) and Flish
Finally, Carakiller and Gannetwhale ;D
I got one extra Carakiller to use as a terror bird stand in ;D
So there yah have it, something different, something weird, but always WILD! ;D ;D ;D
