I accidentally stumbled upon this "Keith Strasser" fellow and his semi-defunct website, and I was pleasantly surprised to discover that he was responsible for the Virginia Living Museum's Syntarsus sculpture. I've seen it dozens of times in person (just a few days ago, in fact), yet never known the artist responsible. www.gorbs.com/strasser/dinosaurs/dinopage26.cfmFor all but one of these shots, the sculpture was photographed in the outdoor display trail, but it currently resides indoors, at the center of the museum's double helix stairwell. For some reason, the photographs remind me of Cordy's avatar, but I'm not sure why...

I think you mean Megapnosaurus, as Syntarsus is the name of a cockroach or something.

I think you mean Megapnosaurus, as Syntarsus is the name of a cockroach or something. But Syntarsus is a cooler name ;D

So do I. Think I should tell the museum staff to change it? The only other fixed dinosaur exhibit they have is the Coelophysis skeleton in matrix.

I have to agree, even though I posted the original name change here. Megapnosaurus sounds like a big hole.

Yate in 2005 suggested Megapnosaurus ( he called it Syntarsus) was possibly synonymous with Coelophysis, since they are almost identical.

Indeed, somewhat like my avatar... ;D
Cool sculpture too. If sideshow came out with a mini-version, I'd be sure to get it ASAP....
