Do they sell them there? I swear I have seen them for sale when I went there last year, but I did not realize it until now.

Dinotales were made by Kaiyodo of Japan, for Japan. That changed only slightly when Dinotale Series 3 was released as Dinomania Series 1 in North America. And it never resulted in a second series. Currently, there are some companies, like BCOP, that claim to sell an Animaltales series but I've never seen dinos.
And it has been years since a line of Dinotales has come out--the closest is some Gahaspon (vending machine) figures as part of a set at the Japanese National Dinosaur museum (or something like that).
In other words, if the AMNH has a Dinotales line, Ithink we all want to know about it!

I bought a small plesiosaur that was blue, and on the box I think it said "Dinomania" and there was a picture of a feathered dienonychus, and I think a protoceratops, if I remember correctly.

Yup, those would be the re-issued Series 3 Dinotales. The picture of a protoceratops, I don't know--there is a Styracosaurus and a Lystrosaurus, either of which could conceivably be mistaken for a Protoceratops in a small picture. Sadly, Dinomania 1 never amounted to anything else; the company seemed to lose interest after the initial burst. The biggest issue may have been price. Whereas Dinotales were sold for the equivalent of about $1.50 in Japan, they were generall closer to $5-$8 here in North America. And the candy is lousy.

I haven't been there in a few years but yes, they had Dinotales. It was the first few series, I remember not having time to open up a bunch of boxes to find a Hallucigenia

I found a bunch at a nearby Comics shop near here a few years ago (I had already bought some of the Dinotales Series 3 figures before). I even got one of the Secret old-style T rex figures (green one).

Yep, I bought a Dinomania figure when I was in the AMNH two years ago. I wanted the plesiosaur but it happened to be the secret green rex too I blogged on it some time ago.

I remember feeling disappointed by my "secret" figure as well. I needed the Apatosaurus to complete the Dinotales 3/Dinomania set, and instead got a stupid retro figure (I've mentioned my love for those, right?).
