On Christmas 1959 I got my first Marx Dinosaur Playset. My parents had it out of the box and set up, when I got up that morning. Over the years I collected Baseball Cards, had quite a few of the fifty's and sixties. I had like Mickey Mantle etc. I also had a comic book collection. I started getting DC comics in the fifties and I had the first issues and early editions of several of the Marvel comic super heros. But my Mom gave them to my younger cousin. The only thing I've got from my childhood is my dinosaurs and some records. Here is the box from my first Dinosaur play set. 50's and 60's Marx playset boxes are some of my favorite pieces of art- the cover art, usually screened on raw cardboard like this one-and on a lot of the sets they had black silhouettes running around the sides relating to the playset inside-cowboys and indians for example- I used to have a whole closet full of playsets when I was a collector, and loved the boxes as much as their contents-

Well I never was a collector but I could have been one. I use to have the Alamo (Davy Crockett), and Ft. Apache and others. I use to make my Christmas list from the Sears catalog.

Nice Marx set Are those the original trees? You should post these pictures in the Marx thread also. I have a few Marx, but not as many versions as you have here.

Yeah the trees are the original trees from my playsets. Some are older then others. I've got a lot more to come. I'll have to find the Marx thread.

Just got a Battat Maiasaura, Euoplocephalus, and MIB Carnotaurus and Gallimimus. Luckily the heavy rain didn't affect the contents of the parcel at all; I was a bit worried about possible damage to the MIB figures. ;D Congratulations!

Another Synapsid Cynognathus is thought of a little differently today, but I still love this sculpt. For years after Marx made their Plateosaurus others copied it, including the early Bullyland Plateosaurus.

Despite the old fashioned style, Marx stuff is very cool. Maybe I get some of them...

Wow, the text in that booklet is fantastic! ;D I especially love the idea that the 'age of man' began 70 MILLION years ago! Because as everyone knows dinosaurs were the only prehistoric animals, ever. ;D ;D And Allosaurus - leapin' lizards! Thanks very much for sharing all this Stoneage.
