Ah,Ichtyosaurs...I've always been fascinated by those smirking,big-eyed lizards that once roamed the oceans of this world, but, unfortunately,i've never found too much esaustive informations about them,at least not here in my country. I know there's a website devoted to Ichtyos & such,it's good and all,but what i need is a book...A d**n Ichtyosaurids-centered book Someone of you know if there's something available about that? Would be cool if Mike Everhart (the author of the magnificent "Oceans of Kansas") would write something about the "dolphin lizards" sometime soon...

'Sea Dragons' by Richard Ellis has a whole chapter devoted to Ichthyosaurs Yay,thanks for the information,i'll get it as soon as possible But a whole book about my finned friends...It hasn't yet come out? I have Sea Dragons--good book ,nicely illustrated, but no, as far as I know, there is no book specifically on ichthyosaurs. Or maybe there are: www.amazon.com/Ichthyosaurs-Exploring-Dinosaurs-Prehistoric-Creatures/dp/1592963668/ref=sr_1_2?ie=UTF8&s=books&qid=1216068986&sr=1-2but i don't what level that book is at (I believe younger readers--has anyone ever read the Pelycosaurs one in that series?). Oceans of Kansas (by Mike Everhart) may also offer something, but I haven't read it.

I'm currently reading "Oceans of Kansas" and no,as far as i've read,it doesn't deal with Ichtyosaurs...Amazing book, though, truly recommended The book whose link you posted...Mmh,it seems to be only 32 pages long Anyway,it could be still good, despite that;anyone here has read it,or maybe the others of that series?

Sadly, there were no Ichthyosaurs in the oceans of Kansas (the actual Oceans that it) and so none appear in the book. I reviewed this book for the Palaeontological Association by the way - www.plesiosauria.com/pdf/smith2005review.pdf

Christopher McGowan has written a couple books with lots of information on ichthyosaurs (though again, not specifically about them). I have Dinosaurs, Spitfires and Sea Dragons (1991, paleobiology) and The Dragon Seekers (2001, history of paleontology). Dinosaurs, Spitfires and Sea Dragons is a revised an updated edition of The Successful Dragons (1983), which I remember often checking out from the public library as a kid, and is also worth reading if you ever find it. McGowan's books might be a bit outdated now, but he does stand out to me as an author who never neglects ichthyosaurs.

That's because he is one of the few Ichthyosaur specialists in the world.
