K, so I had chopped up the sail, and use small comb teeth as spines in the tips of this, but it would not support its own weight in a horizontal position; the ankles bent forward, and it fell, killing all the little spines. As I was redoing it, I decided to use spines culled from the McFarlane White Dragon instead---blasphemy, I know. I still need to get some type of putty to smooth out the bases of the spines yet, after the holidays, I think. The toothpick is there to keep it from toppling again, as the ankles and lower legs are unable too.

It fell even with the glue? I'm surprised!

Yup. It was hot glued to the base, but the weight of the front half deformed the ankles, and it started leaning forward, til it pulled the glue off the base, and it fell. The ankles stayed deformed too, I had to reheat and move them.

Looks amazing. Very Todd Marshall with the broken sail and fantastic paint work. And it's still an accurate Spinosaurus! (I mean, as far as we know...)

VERY NICE AGAIN!! (Those !#@$%&!*^%!! ankles!!!)
The fact is that it cannot stand without a support. You might want to try a wire support just inside one of the legs so its (mostly) hidden from view, but the only tried and true way is with a wire to the gut like you've done due to the length of the critter.
And then - you AIRBRUSH IT OUT on your photos!!

Simply stunning - surely the closest anyone's come to a Marshall-style Spinosaurus figure.

I don't know Al.. I have two of them and both will stand on their own just right. If it simply won't stand all for you Kevin, leave the tooth pick, add some small rock and moss and glue it to the pick... that should hide it pretty well and make the piece look all the better.

Simply stunning - surely the closest anyone's come to a Marshall-style Spinosaurus figure. Actually, I think one other modified spino was posted with this style only spiy-er. And with a customed dewlap and spines too. It should be on here somewhere. looked pretty awesome as I recall....
