Cool but I think you should do something additional to the horns and beak to give it more texture.

;D I would, if they had any texture molded in. Of course, one might postulate they are covered in keratin, and so would be smooth and shiny. I have not sprayed these with a sealant yet, when I do, I will add a gloss clearcoat to the horns beak, eyes, etc. That will add some life, I think. Normally I would apply the wash, then drybrush over it, so the raised textures and grooves show up, but Procon did not add these details to the figure....there is no detail TO drybrush...

Maybe if you took a razorblade and made some slashes here and there on the beak and horns to give it a battled look. Or you could use a tiny tiny brush to paint detail on it as a sort of illusion. Eh its not a huge deal I'm sure whatever you do in the end will come out good.

Nice job Kevin - but I question the coloring of the horns/beak on this critter and the Battat Trike - they should be some kind of worn off-white or ivory, no? Certainly not dark blue?

They look black to me.

They are black, and it depends. Lots of animals--bulls--have black horns when they are keratin sheathed....but if they are actual bare bone, then an ivory or dirty yellow may work better. It just depends on what you want. My understanding is that it is widely believed the horns were keratin sheathed, so almost any color will do--like the styraco, both mine and the original.

Good job Kevin! The figure looks better then the original and somehow the face doesn't look so dumb.

I think this looks really nice. If you do decide to add more detail to the horns please don't turn them into 'fossil' horns a la the JP (movie)/Papo Triceratops! I don't think it matters where the pattern came from as it was your idea to apply it to this toy.

Ya, I know, I just like to be upfront when I get "inspired" so directly, just so as everything is clear. I do this partly since i do profit some when I do customs, albeit in trade figs. I just don't want to misrepresent any part of my process.... As for horn detail, remembr the real ones on the fig are only a little over a quarter inch long, so the lack of detail is not very noticeable, so I don't think any modification would be strictly needed.
