Well, I've exhausted every hyperbole with everybody else's collections, I think. ;D What more can I say except that it's fantastic and I'm just unspeakably envious! ;D I really would like to have a 19th-century-style display to give my collection a bit of a museum-like-feel... Ideally, that's the sort of display I'd like too, one fine day... Oh yes... this 'collections' section is really impressive and should have a warning. Something like 'will cause sleepless nights' A 19-th-century-look display would be so cool... I would probably make paper cards with handwritten information for the 'artifacts' in it, just like they used to to in Natural History Museums. The Teylers Museum in Haarlem still has those kind of text cards, really a museum to visit when you're in the Netherlands, with a very nice fossil collection (and extremely beautiful display). And back at sbells magnificent collection: cool you've got some of your collection in your office! I'm looking forward to the new pics

Oh, yes, I would definitely be handwriting a few cards too. I must make a note of that museum should I ever get the chance to visit the Netherlands. I'm looking forward to more pictures from Sbell too -- with some trepidation. ;D

Truly impressive Sbell, I'm very impressed by your personal dinosaur toy museum! ;D One day.... Must be satisfying to have most of them displayed nicely and protected from dust, that you can walk in and enjoy them all without having to dig up bins to look for your figures (like I do ;D)

Which of the seven deadly sins is Envy again? Third? Fourth? Up there in the top-half, I think. Well, mea culpa, and it's all your fault, Sbell! Hope your nights are as tormented by guilt for what you've done to me as mine now will be with lying awake coveting both your collection (gosh, I wish I had that Bully Dinotherium!) and your glass-fronted shelving units (you deny yourself no luxury, do you?). Thanks for the delightful romp through your very well-organized display. I can only say with Napoleon Dynamite, "Lucky!"

Well, with all of the recent kind words, I finally got motivated into removing the bar in front of the shelves (it's a long story--Canada in the late 70s had some weird ideas about home improvement).
So now, the entire shelves are visible. Plus, I was able to re-install another glass cabinet.
Which means its reorganization time again. Every time I do this, my collection has grown, and I never remember to allow for additions (Safari alone will be eating a ridiculous amount of space). Already, most of my larger modern animals have been pushed aside, with plans to find new homes for most of my old Schleich wildlife.
So, when I am finally finished with the never-ending project, I will get photos up.
And I once thought about cards/info panels for the collection, but honestly, there are well over 1000 figures up there, with more every few weeks, and I can't fit them anyway. Plus, I'm bad enough at getting the text panels together for the displays at work (for those who aren't aware, I'm the GM at a dinosaur museum called the T.rex Discovery Centre). I would never be up-to-date.
But, if anyone is ever nearby (we're an hour north of Montana) you would of course be welcome to come by for a beer (or other drink) and we of course have room for guests. Plus, you can see the Centre that way. (I just saw the post from Libraptor about a drink--we usually have lots of German tourists at this time of year, so why not?). Just give me some warning--the wife might like to know what's happening.

I look forward to the pictures, whenever they're ready. I don't think I'd be able to do cards for everything either, even for my small collection. If I ever get round to it, there would probably only be cards for families or something like that... ;D Ah, if only it were easier for me to visit. ;D

Sbell, this all looks so great! And no dust!!! Can't wait for the new pics. By the date on the first pics here, you got about a full year's worth of new figures to find homes for, plus the ones that don't have homes yet and the 2011 figs! Good you got the bar out to free up those other shelves and that you also got a new shelf unit. All the new space will I'm sure be eaten up very quickly! ;D One question, though. Since the bar's now out and you're inviting us over for a drink, where's all the booze being stored now? ;D

I don't think I ever saw that question--I have cabinets in my kitchen you know. And while I am not about to post all of the pictures here (yet, I'll get to it). I can at least link to where the pictures are. I even put captions on the pictures! picasaweb.google.ca/HyenaSean/DisplaysAtHome#And for those who are familiar--or look at the comparisons with my older pictures--I still have many of the figures you won't see here. Many of my favourites (Invictas, most Bully mammals, Fauna Casts, etc) are in my office. And most of my big pterosaurs are in my son's room.

Well, I have 4--the 3 different ones, plus my son has one (another grey). I am holding onto it until I can find someone to trade for an elusive green one (I know they exist--I know one person that has one).

When did you get the Starlux Cephalaspis, and how much did it cost you?

When did you get the Starlux Cephalaspis, and how much did it cost you? 25 Euros, about 3 years ago. From an ebay Starlux hoarder/seller named sugoi_fr (I call him that because I recall that, for a while, nothing went by him. I finally got the figure, and the Drepanaspis by contacting him directly). Eventually he sold off a lot of figures--I'm guessing he sold all of his doubles after picking his best, but really, I haven't kept an eye on Starlux for some time now.

So here is some more of the spread-around collection, this time on the shelves in my son Logan's room: The close ups of the shelves can be seen in the same sub-album: picasaweb.google.ca/HyenaSean/DisplaysAtHome#Next up, eventually, will be the office shelves. Maybe Friday, since I'm stuck at work that evening.

Cephalapsis is easy - try French eBay,( it's where I got mine) what I wanna know is what is his secret source of climatius figures???!!!! ? Honestly, a couple of dumb luck auctions on ebay--and trust me, nobody that is selling them will recognize it, they were both parts of random lots with plastic dish in them (as a kid, 25 years ago, I had the same fish fro the same sets). The grey ones came from somebody with some old fish toys in pacakges (Jersey Toy Company, actually)--I only bought two, and that was 4 years ago. Don't even remember who the seller was. The purple one was sold for a while by US Toy Company, but they discontinued it.

sbell, what's the gray liopleurodon next to the Carnegie Tylosaurus/? It's identical to the Kaiyodo lio so that's likely what it is, but it looks twice as big. Did foreshortening play a trick on me?
