So here it is--after two years, I finally have a home, a space, and the shelving to put out the figures I want out. Yes--I have enough that some things simply couldn't be put out. Instead, they are either still in storage (awaiting a home, or a new home) or in my son's room on his shelves (including doubles of Dinotales and Yowies--sacrifices had to be made). Now the collection is behind a bar in our new house--for now. The bar will be taken out soon. And for those of you wondering--in the late 70s/early 80s, every Canadian home had to have a bar put in. And there had to be fake leather on it. Here goes: Wide shots: Closer--sauropodomorphs and (mostly) extinct ungulates): Freshwater fishes, some amphibians, some transitional fishes, and 'tetanuran' dinosaurs: Terrible picture of pterosaurs and 'large' mammals: Tyrannosaurs & relateds, variety of reptiles&hibians (living & extinct): Extinct carnivorous placentals, synapsids, non-croc crurotarsans: Marine reptiles, large & small: Skulls, skeletons, 'inverts' Sharks, placoderms, a few other marine reptiles, ceratopsians, ankylosaurs: Other theropods, and empty shelf (because it is very buried behind the bar): Various mammals, marine fish, agnathans, acanthodians: Modern carnivorans, ornithopods, stegosaurs: A few modern ungulates, birds, empty hidden shelf: So that's all. For now. Of course, I am not sure what I will do in the coming years as new (and new-to-me) cool stuff comes along. Other than make it all fit. And, just so people know, I am locking my old collection thread: dinotoyforum.proboards.com/index.cgi?action=display&board=collections&thread=113&page=3

Wonderful collection Sbell!

I've thought about building my own--but Ikea made an offer I couldn't refuse (i.e. good enough shelves that were already partially made!).

Wow, amazing display! Someday I hope to have a large enough place to display my collection in one place like this, now it's broken up all over my room. Do you have a complete starlux collection? I see most of the rare ones there (the non-dinos at least).

I see most of the rare ones there (the non-dinos at least). Other than their weird trilobite, I have most of the interesting non-dinos. I have never been all that interested in their dinosaurs at all (never bothered with the Dimetrodon or Cynognathus, either). Or their humans. What's up with the Saltoposuchus on the marine reptile shelf?! I included all crocodilomorphs on that shelf--for some reason, it was mislabelled elsewhere, and will be moved eventually (it took 2 months to get everything somewhat sorted as it was). I'm guessing half of that is japanese stuff/procon? Close--of the about 1020 figures, 430 are Japanese or CollectA (almost 400 are Japanese). I must admit that is a very impressive collection. It's very well organized though they seem a littled crowded.Of course what else could you do. It looks better then the old pictures. Nice Shelves!! Thank you. Yeah, some are too crowded--I need more 3-tier shelves to give it some order. And that is part of the reason I had to leave some figures out--or put some of the big ones on top, even though they could have fit (even the Carnegie Diplodocus and Mamenchisaurus).

WOW!!!! Very nicely done!!! Really makes the collection stand out. I like the way it is organized by organism rather than manufacturer - really shows the diversity of the figures!
Thanks for sharing!

Thanks. Did you see the WwD/Quick Rhamphorhynchus? ;D I debated how to organize them. Who knows, maybe I will change it up again at some point (what's another two months, really?). I will say--pterosaurs are a pain. It is crowded enough, and each one of those take up insane amounts of space (as opposed to, say, mammals or dinos, that can fit side-by-side. Marine reptiles are almost as bad).

I was only able to get the figure itself not the rest of the accessories like your figure (so I am a bit jealous there... )

Your collection looks like a museum, wonderful! I really would like to have a 19th-century-style display to give my collection a bit of a museum-like-feel, but you managed it perfectly with Ikea Great and very impressive collection!!

Your collection looks like a museum, wonderful! I really would like to have a 19th-century-style display to give my collection a bit of a museum-like-feel, but you managed it perfectly with Ikea Great and very impressive collection!! Thanks, I haven't been to this thread in a while--I have actually completely redone most of it! In fact, most of my large figures have ended up on a few shelves, with the majority of the shelves being filled with small, mostly Japanese, figures! And some of them are also on shelves in my office too! And some (less breakable ones) are also now on my son's shelves! The breakdown is a little less specific now, just because of space. Some, like Starlux and Colorata, get their own shelves, and the dinos are broken up into Kaiyodo dinos and the rest (they're about equally crowded). Sea creatures are combined regardless of taxonomic placement, and inverts and amphibians are crowded together due to space limits (and some new acquistions are going to crowd that one even more...). Fish are broken into freshwater (another increasingly crowded one), salthingyer, and sharks & placoderms. So yeah, things are a little arbitrary, but at least they are out. And I also have left room for books at the bottom now. Ran out of room elsewhere in our other shelves. Also, space for other odds and ends--like all of my Colorata lunchboxes. Eventually I'll get around to taking new photos--once I've finished adding to it.

Well, I've exhausted every hyperbole with everybody else's collections, I think. ;D What more can I say except that it's fantastic and I'm just unspeakably envious! ;D I really would like to have a 19th-century-style display to give my collection a bit of a museum-like-feel... Ideally, that's the sort of display I'd like too, one fine day...
