/\ Cannon fodder! ;D This post was the virtual equivalent of putting you fingers in your ears and going "lalalalalala".
"What im sick of is skeptics like you people trying to mock us for something we believe in"
But you make it so easy! Seriously though, put up or shut up - if you can't stand the heat, you stop posting in this thread. For the most part you are not being mocked anyway, people are simply explaining WHY YOU ARE WRONG.
", so get out of our thread"
so it's like that is it? ;D If you think this is a forum for 'true believers' to pat each other on their backs, you are mistaken.
"if you wanna try to change our beliefs, which your not gonna suceed."
Well done, you have exposed yourself as the ignoramus that you are. Nobody will succeed in changing your beliefs because you are a closed-minded, antagonistic faith head with the cognitive abilities of a hoaxed bigfoot corpse. Now, get back to touching rusty thingies Lego boy.
(too harsh?;D)

*Is glad Crazycrowman is here* You have more patience than me when it comes to Cryptozoology - you're blowing these guys out the water ;D everyone confuses cryptozoology with fantasy... I thought this was going to be a serious thread with animals that can be somehow explained by science and not monsters taken from man's imagination

All I've seen from you is mocking people, being a jerk to everyone, I think Tom should be the Adimn, NOT YOU! You have no right to be an Admin, you only use it to abuse your power. NOW GET OUT!

Oooh--now we get into the ad hominem attacks. Spelling counts by the way. And I doubt that the FOUNDER (I believe) of the forum is going to give it away. The coup is destined to fail. So--maybe this thread has ceased to matter (I look forward to hearing a 'click' on the lock). Some people don't like to hear that their beliefs are pointless. Others can't help but try and use facts to try and illuminate the darkness that is blind faith and unquestioned belief. These two approaches will always clash. This will never change, because somewhere along the line, the concept of the right to an opinion was reworked to refer to the equality of all opinions. Sorry folks. Some opinions may be dear to their holders, but they can still be wrong. Grow up and deal with it. And if a TOY FORUM is not satisfying your need for unquestioning discussions about random topics, I am sure there are others out there, Cryptids don't count here, because they are not prehistoric, and they are not toys.

I don't like fighting with people, but I like pointing out to people who scientific method works. I will be the first to say that as someone who follows anthropology closely, I would love a (NAPe) North American Ape to exist, but, unfortunately, just like how dinotoyforum politely provided his paper on Nessy, these "creatures" are simply not validated as anything other then stories.
"everyone confuses cryptozoology with fantasy"
No, many folks confuse cryptozoology with a legitimate science, such as zoology. Zoology covers all the things cryptozoology covers except the absurd fantasy based stuff.
"I thought this was going to be a serious thread with animals that can be somehow explained by science and not monsters taken from man's imagination"
It was, and I did. Bigfoot = Hoaxes, misidentifications and mangy bears. Any other "cryptids" you would like probable explanations for ?
"What im sick of is skeptics like you people trying to mock us for something we believe in, so get out of our thread if you wanna try to change our beliefs, which your not gonna suceed."
I wanted to make it clear that I am not trying to directly attack peoples beliefs. I am trying to get people to understand the difference between facts, science and beliefs, and that the three are hardly interchangeable.
Here is sort of an example -
I like Flinstones figures. I collect them. I enjoyed the show as a boy. I always wanted a pet like Dino! That is something no one can challenge. They can say, "eww, those are ugly figures", or "the Flintstones were stupid" but much like my initial claim about liking the Flintstones, there are opinions. Opinions have little power to convince, and while at times based on fact, can just as often be based on misinterpretation and personalized preferences. Opinions (and beliefs for that matter) are often formed with and due to held prejudices. (like, say - "feathered dinosaurs are ugly and those Chinese people, including the paleontologists are all ignorant deceitful forgers and fakers!")
If I were to attempt to make the claim, though, that the Flintstones show and figures accurately depict life in prehistory, that is not an opinion, it is a belief. My opinions on the Flintstones, and my personal preferences for them have likely flavored this belief. Often beliefs are formed as explanations by folks not aware of the facts. I may find support for a Flintstones explanation of prehistory belief of a fora dedicated to the Flintstones, (or indeed YEC) but, I should really expect that belief to be challenged by those who have studied fact, and those who do not share my "unusual" belief systems. The facts do not support the belief that people and animals lived like the Flintstones. The facts support a very different prehistory. I may chose to ignore those facts if I feel particularly strongly about my belief, but that still does not validate my belief as fact. Beliefs cannot be disproved or even contested in such a rational or logical manner, and are best kept out of factual discussions.
Facts on the other hand, are verifiable. We can determine whether facts are true or not researching legitimate evidence, specifically evidence that stands up to the scrutiny of proper scientific peer review, and can be tested. Scientific peer review is one way beliefs and opinions that may could one researcher are kept from distorting facts. New facts may change how we interpreted older facts as more information regarding the studied have been gleaned. (Dinosaur Integuments and the origin of modern birds are a good examples of this)
Theory, described in a scientific light, is rather different from belief, and is a set of statements or principles devised to explain a group of facts and their relation to one another. Theory is "proven" by being repeatedly testable with the same results (say, gravity) Theory is often used to make predictions about natural phenomena related to the facts described.
So, I am not intending to remove anyones "belief" in bigfoot, or tell anyone they should not form opinions about bigfoot. I have challenged those who make the claim that they believe he is a "real" entity to provide representation OF bigfoots existence with evidence that stands up to the scrutiny of proper scientific peer review. That is all any biologist would ask for to document any species. Bigfoot has not been singled out any more then any other species, including the Wrinkled yellow butted purple beanie-screamer.
Without that proof, bigfoot simply does not have any more validity in a scientific light then flying pink unicorns, turtles that carry the world on their backs, or a Flintstones variation on prehistory.
As for Mr. Foot, and opinions, I think he is kind of cool myself, especially on "Harry and the Hendersons" But as there has not been anything to validate his existence, I acknowledge and enjoy him as a bizarre cultural phenomenon, and a mythical "folk hero" of sorts.
