No worries about the lips thing. Honestly when it comes to theropods i really don't stand on either side of the debate. But even if it did have lips would the teeth be long enough to protrude downwards a bit? I'm not sure because I don't have a pic of the skull on me atm but i know that for T. rex this would be the case.

Yes, like you, I have no fixed inclination towards either myself. Hence my being quite happy to switch back and fourth. But yes, I imagine they probably ought to show a bit even with lips. I'm doing a few more studies yet, so hopefully there'll be something that works even better among them.

I´m usually in the no lips side, though I´m don´t completely reject the opposite. Or something in between: medium sized lips which cover just partially the teeth. It could really be different in each genera. Just imagine a Ceratosaurus with lips covering its teeth entirely: it would look like a bulldog! ;D

Ceratosaurus and T. rex, lips or not, would still have protruding teeth unless, like you said they were practically jowls lol.

May I please urge everyone to disregard the previously posted abomination (to which I nevertheless added protruding tips of teeth) and turn your attention to this hopefully better attempt. Here is the progress stage (scan darkened to show lighter lines better). You are right, the teeth do indeed protrude even with lips. I neglected to rough the teeth out at all with the first version.

Hahahah
Is that Olorotitan supposed to be you or one of us heartless nitpickiers? ;D
Amazing revision! I like a lot how you made all the details and the texture. And the jowl! great job. The old one was already good though!

I decided to give it both a gular pouch and a dewlap. The Olorotitan probably has more of me in it. ;D It just happened to be Olorotitan because I was hoping to pair it with the Tarbo for the conference artwork, which these studies are essentially for. Of course, the Tarbo will end up more stylised, but because I'm not familiar enough with it, I needed these exercises first (tyrannosaurids, bah; you can have 'em ;D ). Thank you for liking the first one. I grew more and more discontented with it -- chiefly for the ill-judged rendering of the feathers. But otherwise, it might pass for a juvenile, as you said.

The new one is a big improvement. Very nice. I see I'm an Olorotitan now.

Just noticed how the new Tarbo looks inquisitively at the viewer seeking your aproval. (maybe its unintended, but either way it made me laugh). Himmapan art is so unique in this kind of subtle stuff.

Thank you guys.
Ha, that's not you, Marc, honest. It really is more reflective of myself. It also just fitted nicely to have the Olorotitan being unimpressed as its race opponent for the conference art thing.

Oh, just saw your post, Arioch. Yes indeed, it was supposed to be looking at the viewer, though with what kind of expression is up to you. ;D I like your interpretation and I'm glad you noticed, thank you!

By the way...just had a crazy idea. Would you accept a request? in a similar line to the epic combat recreations. It would need a bit of gory detail, though it is really up to you. It would basically contain several big ceratopsians and scared humans, to give a clue.

Sounds like a " running of the bulls " gone bad... ala Dinosaurs Attack ! ;D I suppose that might be approachable. A suggestion of imminent gore, as opposed to the thick of it.

Blade got it right. I personally have a deep dislike for bull running, bull fighting and wathever other practices involving bulls being bullied or forced to do that kind of stuff. So whenever I see in TV how things gone bad for the humans, a wicked and satisfied grin appears in my face. Now imagine how bad could things gone for the humans if those running barely half ton bulls "magically" transform in an angry herd of 8 Ton triceratops. ;D I´ve been fantasizing with this since I was a kid. Revenge of the nature! Yay I was thinking of the San Fermin festival, which has worldwide renown and a significative participation of tourists and people around the world (not only the spanish locals) Couple of pics for inspiration and show you the tipical runner outfit (though they´re not usually very homogenous) funster.us/wp-content/uploads/2009/07/san-fermin.jpgwww.blogseitb.com/pamplona/wp-content/uploads/2010/07/encierro1.jpgAnd another piece with a different dinosaur, but same situation: durbed.deviantart.com/favourites/#/d3j1yw2 So, if you accept to do this, gory wouldn´t be exactly necessary but it would help if a couple of humans get stomped (for example, crushed under ceratopsians feet. Maybe someone getting impaled too but that´s really up to you.) It should have the impression that humans have very very low possibilities to walk away unscathed or even survive. And still with a humorous feel more than sinister, like, well your previous pieces. So, what do you say?
