Hi all,
My son and I have been collecting model dinosaurs for several years; we were really happy to discover this forum! We're now up to close to 200 of various makes and sizes (though that includes quite a few dollar-store types).
I'd greatly appreciate hearing from anyone who knows where we might buy models (particularly Procon, Battat, and Safari) in Canada. A few years ago, I ordered a couple of dozen dinos from DinoFarm and got charged almost as much as the dinos cost by Customs. I'd like to avoid repeating that experience if possible! The Procon corporate website states that it has a Canadian distributor, but we haven't found any retailers here.

Hi and welcome to the forum!
You can always try museum gift shops for the Procons. There are quite a few great natural history museums in Canada.

You should PM sbell, one of the forum moderators, who lives in Saskatchewan, I believe. I bet he could hook you up with some good sources.

Hi there, I don't just live in Saskatchewan, I run a dino museum--and we carry CollectA (and Safari) dinos in the store. So yeah, just let me know what you need. We don't have the full lines, but we have quite a bit.

Excellent news. We can now say that we have Canada from east to west coast plus some places in between inthe forum. What part of the rock are you from?
I'm in the Hamilton area.

Hi again,
Thanks for the welcome and the advice! We've been to several of the museums and have covered pretty much all of the genera in their gift shops. We're in Gander right now, though we've lived from the Left coast to this one and places in between; grew up in Guelph and have fond memories of trips to the ROM as a kid.
Thanks, sbell, for offering to sell us some models - I'll take you up on that right away! I'll send you our wish list in a pm and see how many you have for sale. Running a dino museum is my son's dream job! I spent countless weekends traipsing through the badlands of Alberta looking for fossils when I lived there, though I didn't make it to the Saskatchewan side of the Cypress Hills. A fantastic place to live for dinosaur fanatics like me lol. I remember reading about a T. Rex coprolite found in Southern Saskatchewan a bit to the southeast of there, back in the mid-1990's. I'd love to hear more about the museum!

Hi all, I'm very happy to report that we were able to get a bunch of new models, thanks to sbell in Saskatchewan. We feel really fortunate to have found a Canadian supplier of Procon and Safari dinos! Thanks so much!
My son is picking one per day out of the box and they're getting a proper introduction to the collection; each one is being rescued by a dinosaur crew (a Euoplocephalus and a Deltadromeus) flying a Capsella helicopter, then gets greeted by a group of its related dinosaur family; then it gets registered on a list and researched on Wikipedia. We're planning to hand out certificates to each dinosaur in honour of their notable features (longest neck, tallest, etc.). Kids eh? lol.
