The kaprosuchus was impressive enough to warrant a purchase ( the same cannot be said for the safari edmonto, however... :x) Was the safari edmontosaurus widely considered to be an abomination? I thought the figure had a pretty cool, vibrant paint job-not a fan of the black stripe running along its back, though. It seemed anatomically sound, and had a defensively dynamic pose (making it a good prey animal). Did most folks here not like it? What was the consensus regarding the WS edmonto? Of that set, I personally felt that the Inostrancevia was a missed opportunity---It seemed to have too many soft features, and the details on its sculpt/paint appeared slightly smudged. However, it became a fairly popular figure and a welcome addition for most collectors. There are not too many "post-dinosaur" figures in the market, I suppose.

Given that Inostrancevia would be a pre-dinos (I hate that term) but it made sense since they already had a Scutosaurus for it to eat. I think it was well-received, but just overshadowed by the far-more-awesome Kaprosuchus.

Oops, I think I meant "pre-dino" ( ...I'm speculating that my neuronal circuitry glitched up by plugging in the word "post", by subconsciously interjecting thoughts of "post-osuchus" and associating it with images of "kaprosuchus"...sorry...totally random). Yes, Kaprosuchus is awesome, indeed. Thank you, sbell for suggesting it to Safari Ltd. Any idea if we might see "shield croc", "pancake croc" or the rest of the gang in the near future?(or is it entirely contingent upon sales of the prehistoric crocodile toob?)

Oh, you didn't like the Miragaia?- I suppose the pose is a bit rigid and probably somewhat uninspired (unlike, the CollectA Dacentrurus). Also, I'm not a fan of Carnegie's weird obsession with this "lime green" coat of paint that has now become a signature for their most recent figures (e.g Diplodocus, Miragaia, Brachiosaurus). Overall, I thought the Miragaia was a great model, especially considering its obscure species status... btw, perfect timing! Everything Dinosaur just declared, "The model of the Portuguese Stegosaur known as Miragaia (M. longicollum) made by Safari Ltd has been award the accolade of the “Best Prehistoric Animal Toy in 2011″ by readers of Prehistoric Times."blog.everythingdinosaur.co.uk/Lol, sorry, I didn't mean to...I just saw the article and it reminded me of this very post! ;D

I don't care for the animal. The uninspired paint job made me only dislike it more ;D although the sculpt is top notch an it does seem as though a lot of effort went into it.

I got the CollectA Kentrosaurus...I like it but I wish it was bigger....and the paint job could have been better. But I really do like the sculpt. It's Kaiyodo Dinotales sized. I've just realised something....I always pronounced CollectA as "collect- tah". Is it supposed to be pronounced "Collect eh (like the letter A)?

I've always pronounced it as 'Collect-Ah' too. 'Collect-Ay' seems slightly awkward to me and probably less likely to be adopted as a memorable name. I imagine there is some degree of punning intended, as in 'collector'. Though this pronunciation only makes sense to non-American English speakers, of course.

You'd get it, but it would be an unsatisfactory pun to you because of the differing pronunciation. There isn't a rolled 'r' or a stronger 'er' sound. Is that better?

But in my case I really don't know. All the different sounds, I tend to have trouble with phonics because so often what I see doesn't turn out to be what I expect to hear. And different languages tend to use sounds differently. To me it is basically Collect-Ahh!

An impressive little collection! I have one of the Plateosaurus myself and totally agree with your assessment of it as the BEST out there! MY interests lie in the Dacentrus, the Torosaurus, and especially the Proceratosaurus! I love the coloring of it and (as I found soon discovered) it is an ancestor of the Allosaurus, one of my favorite Dino's! Both the Proceratosaurus and the Dacentrus are on the TOP of my list of Dinos to add to my collection. I have ALWAYS been partial to the Kentorsaurus type of the Stegosaurids. I actually have the Collecta Kentrosaurus! I like that it the rubbery type as the tail is pliable and moves a bit. My son gets a kick out of it. I'm glad that he has taken an interest in them, especially now that so many IMPRESSIVE examples are available.
Back on topic, if Procon/Collecta keep up this trend, they will be the ones to beat in the Dinosaur collection arena!

But I hate to burst your bubble--Proceratosaurus was found to be a tyrannosauroid, not an allosaur-line theropod

Niroot, one thing you're forgetting (or fahgitting) is that just like England there are many, many accents here in the U.S. Some places in the northeast it may well be pronounced like that without the "r" and also in the south. Here in the midwest the "r" might be pronounced however I had assumed it was a pun and pronounced "collecta". Capisci? ( or as they say in the states, capisce pronounced "ca-PEESH") ;D

I should have shushed from the start, shouldn't I. ;D

Uploaded with ImageShack.usUploaded with ImageShack.usBLOODY HELL I guess the "bloody" part would be pretty accurate I don't think I want to get this figure, it's a bit too gory/graphic for my tastes. (I'm probably in the minority here)
