A herd of COG prehistoric critters arrived today COG? What company is that? Those are really cute, what size are they? Hey, can someone explain to me what COG means? Those are the initials of the company's name? Are these little figures expensive?

Radman, are you sure that the great "Lanzendorf collection" book should be treated that way ;D? Turned upside down and functioning as a cheap background? ;D Haha, yes that "coffee-table book" was actually on my coffee table, as I was searching for painting inspirations. I propped it up to hide all the bills and newspapers and other junk that normally populate that area. It is a wonderful book and an inspiration to what all of us would likely do if we had a lot more spendable moolah. ;D Oh and yes, Himma, that Iguanodon is a Dinotales variant from series 6, I believe.

COG? What company is that? Those are really cute, what size are they? Hey, can someone explain to me what COG means? Those are the initials of the company's name? Are these little figures expensive? The cost of them is, shall we say, under review. When they first came out, they were $12 for a set of 6. So the whole set of 36 would set you back $72. Not bad (except for the dinos, those are terrible). NOW--just as Tedco (the distributors) had finally made headway in 2009, having convinced retailers that these small packages with a very low price point were perfect for impulse shopping areas, and having backorders into the very high thousands...the new US testing regulations came into effect, and the cost was so high (each figure, all 36, had to be tested, at about $10000 each) that the producers said forget it. Which means that they were really only sold for maybe two or three years, and were becoming very sought after right as they became unavailable. Short version--the 5 good sets (Early life, reptiles, pterosaurs, sea life, mammals) will almost certainly start to climb in price, if they haven't already (I'm pretty sure that some of the invert ones have demanded over $15 each in recent auctions). The other set--the terrible dinos--will probably be the easiest to find, the least wanted, but still become expensive as completists try to gather the sets. In other words, if you see them for sale now, get them. They won't get cheaper.

Thanks for the info on these COg figures, I wondered what was up with these too. Still a few questions though. What's the best search term to find them on Ebay? Can't find anything with either Creative Original Gizmos, Dino Horizons or COG... And what do these look like packaged?

Wait. Those are Dino Horizons? Are you guys kidding me? There's a whole store of them at the Hong Kong airport! My grandparents get me some every time they come back from China. I only have the tiny dinosaur line and the test tube skeletons and a huge Triceratops skeleton, but they get me stuff like two times a year. I could easily get the pterosaur ones if they are in stock at the right time.

No new ones have been made since late 2008 at the earliest. When our store had placed the order, they had already been out of stock for several months, and had been waiting for several months for production (which then never happened). But if they are there--pick up everything that can be carried. They're worth it (except the dinos, have I mentioned that? ;D).

Ebay - super fair price, the Loch Ness, Yeti, and Grey Alien for 10.50 (for the lot) Years ago I sold my loose Loch Ness for 50 bucks and always regretted letting it go, so it's nice to have him back. Is this this the same Loch Ness you got? Came with a shadow box. Cool figure Weird, that's the sculpt, but mine is a Teal & Green color - is yours custom painted? It did come in a shadowbox with a piece of rolled up parchment. Also, I just noticed that Loch Ness is printed on the back - mine doesn't have that, either. Seeing that, I'm guessing that it's not custom, so I wonder if another company started making them again or if they farmed out the sculpt to gift shops - maybe? I'm sure someone reading this knows, though. :-)

Well they're still listed on the Dino Horizons website. My grandma brought back the dino(unfortunately) set back in April or May.

I got myself a MOC Jurassic Park Series 2 Tanystropheus. The great thing is that it's the rare European variation I've been looking for for a while, with the prototype Series 2 human figures pictures on the back, including repainted Panosh dinosaur figures as hatchling proxies. Nice find!

The lynx gives me the heebie jeebies. Yes, it's creepy, it looks like Gizmo, the Mogwai from "Gremlins"!! I think maybe that it's actually a caracal which has been painted with spots. Caracals have been called African lynx. Or maybe it's just a bad figure. ;D The figure is not chunky enough for what I call a lynx.

In the arctic set, I have no idea. Maybe one of the many extinct cats, say the ones at La Brea?
