New arrivals! I noticed the big hadrosaur as I was passing a flea market, and naturally had to pick it up. They had some other chinasaurs too, and they cost next to nothing... how could I resist? Although there's no identification other than the name Edmontosaurus stamped on his belly, a quick search of the DTB reveals this is either the UKRD one, or possibly a copy. A retired Bullyland Dimetrodon: And this. As the base helpfully informs us, it's a dinosaur head. Seriously though, it's from an excavation kit I bought in a museum gift shop. According to the box there are six different models (including a feathered "velociraptor" which looks a lot more like a Deinonychus), but the only ones in the shop were this Pachy, Triceratops, and Parasaurolophus. Digging it out of the block of plaster it came in was pretty hard - and fiddly - work, but the resulting model turned out to be pretty nice. A bit snagglytoothed and could probably do with a repaint, but all in all I like it. Hehe, sumo, finds like these are exactly of my taste as well. Randomly found with some fails (yes, what is that green plastic critter?!?) but some hits (Pachy and Dimetrodon). I´m happy to see not everyone here is on the "expensive replicas" - trip only.

OMG. The North American House Hippo, where'd ya get one? My place is crawling with 'em! At least that would explain why I keep running out of chips, and... wait. Something just grunted. I think they may be nesting nearby. Attachments:

So I've been gone awhile--almost a week. Went through some northern-ish states (Montana, South Dakota, Wyoming) to see what we could. And of course, managed to pick up a few cool things (some for me, most were picked by the kids): Broken down: Cabelas store--a plush sturgeon and wolverine: ZooMontana wolverine magnet and notecards: Mammoth Site ornament: Black Hills Institute/Everything Prehistoric Kinto figures (pewter, large vinyl, and soft models), plus a big DX 4D puzzle: Reptile Gardens South Dakota ornament: South Dakota School of Mines & Tech Museum of Geology K&M block puzzles and old Safari Ceratosaurus: Wyoming Dinosaur Center--for Dinosaur Train figures! Havre MT Big R Schleich Wolverines (yes, there is a wolverine pattern here--don't know why, but they became my daughter's go-to thing): All in all, some good stuff but in many instances I was almost surprised by how...limited...the gift shops were (the places themselves were all awesome). Maybe I'm just jaded since I run one myself, but some, like Reptile Gardens, were huge, and yet filled with pretty terrible stuff. Even stranger, except for the Big R, I didn't see any Schleich, and I never saw CollectA anywhere at all. Safari tended to be the go-to, but often with minimal presence (a few figures, not much of the lines, etc). It was good to see Kinto in a store (and to get the last pewter Plesiosaurus). It's tempting to bring them into our store, but between the prices and the difficulty in actually dealing with the company (they are notorious for being difficult to stock) I will have to wait.

David Krentz's Shapeways T. rex. Modified and painted, I assume, by Martin Garratt. Based on the Dinosaur Revolution designs, if I'm not mistaken.

Yeah, I enjoyed this book very much, too. Although some of the feathers, skins and lappet - drawings may be a little exaggerated and excentric.

Yeah, it's cool to see feathers so widely used in the book, but I think that a few designs go too far. Deinonychus for instance.

My latest acquisitions from Darko2300 who was kind enough to toss in some little extras. Don't worry Darko, I took the tags off the Bullylands but I'm keeping them anyway. JWMO sent me the Safari Deltadromeus. I really like this little guy, much better in person than in photographs.
