If I ever got that Sega T. rex I would probably never need to buy another Tyrannosaurus figure...but I would anyway. You can never have enough T-Rex figures...or any dinosaur figures for that matter ;D |

You can never have enough T-Rex figures...or any dinosaur figures for that matter ;D Considering they may have been pack hunters, I could see the sense in collecting multiples of T-rex figures... for accuracy purposes of course! |

I've got the Krentz TRex ordered, I've had a running McVey TRex boxed up ready to assemble for years, ditto with the big 1/20 vinyl Horizon TRex ... ....but.... ...I have to say .... ...this Shinzen Trex... ...is the BEST of them all... ;D (running away) |

For me, the Shinzen TRex is the best model, I displayed in my library and it has become the highlight.

Yes, so let me illustrate why it is the best; Shinzen is the FIRST paleosculptor to get the following details right: 1. Massive, wide legs (ever seen a TRex' ankle bones?); 2. Deep torso allowing for Gastralia and the pubic bone; 3. Massively muscled arms, partially recessed into the chest mucles; 4. Massive tail muscles that served as the powerhouse allowing the Trex to run; 5. Finally the tail is short as it should be (one of the most common mistakes in TRex sculpts is a too-long tail); Besides that, the head is not too large for the body and the scutes along the back are an aesthetic masterstroke. The head is totally accurate and toothy, and the pose is simply the best I've ever seen. It puts resin models to shame! |

I have now seen 4 different color releases of the Sega Triceratops, but only 1 of the sega steg, amarga, and rex. It is very strange to me that they would make 4 colors of tric but only 1 of the rex. The rex should have been the most popular figure and most likely to be released several times in different colors. Sega seems to still be going strong though, and hopefully they won't "waste" these wonderful figures by never releasing them again.

Yeah - I've had 3 of the Triceratops (currently have the desert one and the brown-orange one); Still looking for the elusive Stegosaurus and Amargasaurus ... Weren't these dinos "crane prizes" in machines? That would explain why so few of the TRexes were made, being that they were the most desireable, hence hardest to get(?) |

They were made as machine prizes, but then Sega doesn't just make machine prizes. They make a lot of other Dinosaur King merchandise, you'd think they would want to recycle the big sega figs at some point, for something.

Then again, there is the Japanese penchant for releasing collectable items in limited runs ... all the relevant Dinoking figures resemble the earlier big sculpts, but turned into unrealistic toys (Trex, Stegosaurus, Amargasaurus - the Triceratops is different)...I believe that the later big figures were deliberately painted in the Dinoking game colors, hence the red and gold Trex ... |

I've always liked this Sega Shinzen Red Rex. I also like the newer grey running Sega Rex with the black stripe through his eyes. The only thing I'm not as fond of concerning the Shinzen is its bright orangey-red coloring. Still, I would love to have them both! I've always thought this Rex would pair up well with my big McFarlane King Kong! ;D Simon, I always thought this Rex's tail was a little too short. In fact in my experiences, I think I've seen more Rexes out there with too short of tails than too long. I've always found that figure makers skimp more than add to the tails and sometimes necks, especially with the sauropods. The only one I can think of just off the top of my head with too long of a tail is the Invicta Rex. And it's not that much longer than it should be. But, I don't claim by any stretch of the imagination to know all the Rex figs out there. |

Today i received a Asylum miniatures Kentrosaurus.  but its actually the CollectA Kentrosaur that's repackaged by another company   "run free from your cell in the asylum, and join your Procon brothers!!!" BTW he is also made out of the softer fixable plastic, are all CollectA Kentros like this? or is it unique to my Asylum one? I saw these at a gaming convention last year. They also had repackaged the Herrerasaurus as a 'Fastclaw'. I'm not sure about the legal standing of repackaging another company's figures, but it would seem to be pretty dubious to me. Also, I'm not sure about the plastic, but I wouldn't be surprised if all CollectA Kentrosaurus are soft. They wouldn't want those spikes poking eyes out, would they? |

So, I had a $50 Amazon gift card, and I decided to spend it on the following items (I think they are good choices!):
-Carnegie Carnotaurus (wow, this is a large figure!)
-WS Acrocanthosaurus
-WS Tapejara
-WS Rhamphorhynchus
-WS Kaprosuchus ( I retract my earlier statements regarding sloppy paint jobs; it looks really nice in person, and it is quite large)
It's been a pretty big Safari Ltd. year for me, and I've also picked up:
-WS Dunkleosteus
-WS Vagaceratops
-WS Triceratops
-WS Postosuchus
-Oviraptor and Nest
I picked up some of these figures for real cheap from Amazon--although the prices are never consistent
Well, I'm all out of money for now....haha

My CollectA Kentrosaurus is much softer than my WS Kentro, especially in the tail, spikes, feet and neck areas. I guess I can pretty much easily bend everything except at the thickest part of the body. The WS is much harder and harder to bend anywhere.
I always find it so weird when another company sells someone else's design. Maybe they made some kind of a deal with CollectA. Some kind of consignment. Does it still have CollectA written on the underside of the belly?
