Hey everyone, I've been a huge fan of Martin Garrett's work over the past few years, and after seeing the response to Galileo's Daspletosaurus thread I thought I'd start a bit of a tradition / homage. The idea is to post a new picture of Martin's work every week - primarily to inspire all of us here browsing the Artwork forum, and to hopefully give both Martin's and the sculptors' talents a bit of recognition. Thoughts? Let me know guys, and to kick things of this week: Cretaceous Creations (Shane Foulkes) Kritosaurus & Deinosuchus:

Oh ..... VERY beautiful!!! I like it even better than the Sideshow Diorama because the Hadrosaur is still in good shape ;D.

I'd love to be able to make water like that, it's so realistic. It's an awesome diorama, I shall look forward to seeing more of Garrett's work!

Aw, you flatter me, Mr Stoneage. ;D But yes, I love it! Both the sculpture and Martin's choice of colours for it.

Man, I love the Garrett pieces. Thanks for showing these Darko.
Can someone tell me a little bit about the dude? Is he a museum curator or something, or just a wildly talented kit builder? I really don't know anything other than I like everything of his I've seen.
My favorites of his so far are the Velociraptor gang-assault on the Iguanodon shown in PT95 and the huge diorama with Yangchaunosaurs stalking a herd of Shunosaurs on the Geene website. Both are also shown at the Clubhouse! Museum website that Shane Foulkes pointed me to.
I realized something else when I saw this. I appreciate the whole circle of life thing, and don't mind watching the gore of it on film, but for some reason really prefer not to see it in sculptures. It draws too much attention from the subjects for me. Plus, I somehow feel that one of my sculptures is marred if it's all ripped up, even if that's totally natural. For example, as Postsaurischian pointed out, I really prefer the Foulkes Deinosuchus model shown above to the Sideshow model. In my opinion, the Foulkes model has the same threat of violence, which is almost more dire than the actual capture.

I know he does a lot more piece than just Dinosaurs judging by his Photobucket page.
This is the 2nd C.M. Studio Sucho he's worked on...there is another that he re-worked into a standing position that looks really sweet.
I'd love to be able to learn that taxidermy art of faux water...the right environment can really make a piece LEAP OUT at you.
In regards to the conversation above, I can see how fighting or death shown in sculpture can offend some. The chase is important, at the time you never know just who will come out on top..their is a lot excitement in that. The moment when any creature realizes it's end has found it is a bit morbid I grant you..but equally fascinating I think. In sculpture it shows that one instant , and it is so hard to see without aid of camera, pen, pencil or sculpture. A taste of that in my collection is fine by me.

Oh, it doesn't offend me. Just an aesthetic.
