Sharks have been around for millions of years, way even before the first dinosaurs made their first appearance. I have to admit that I was not that interested in prehistoric sharks until I saw Ray Troll's art show at my local aquarium. I really love Ray's works, they are simply beautiful. Anyway, in that show was some fossil sharks and some really awesome illustrations and paintings. I was really fascinated by the coiled toothed shark (Helicoprion). When I looked around for prehistoric shark figures, I did not find much. It was disappointing. Until Safari released their prehistoric shark toob, there were only the Kaiyodo ones and some Yowies, and TEDCO that I was able to acquire, and of course some Neko Works. Anyway, so I wanted to see how many more prehistoric sharks are there besides the ones I got. Please post/add pictures of your collection if you have any. Thanks, hope you all enjoy show. ;D The Entire Shark Safari Prehistoric Shark Toob setSarcoprion Scapanorthynchus Helicoprion Stethacanthus Cladoselache Edestus (reminds me of Flish from Future is wild! ;D) Cretoxyrhina Orthacanthus Xenacanthus Hybodus Here they all are seen from above Yowie sharksHelicoprion (took me forever to get ;D) Great white (?) TEDCOStethacanthus Neko WorksHybodus The Comparisons:StethacanthusSafari and TEDCO figures (Neko Works also has one, I'm still waiting on my order ) HybodusNeko Works and Safari figures HelicoprionSafari and Yowie figures Scapanorhynchus and Goblin Shark ;D Nice to have the two side-by-side, one prehistoric and one modern. Some modern and prehistoric sharks ( TEDCO Stethacanthus and Kaiyodo Cladoselache in the mix) And a mix of other creatures that lived with sharks, past and present, just for fun ;D Okay, thats all the prehistoric sharks that I have, not a big collection for sure. I have a few modern sharks, but I'm not adding those ;D Oh, of anyone has and extra Kaiyodo Xenacanthus, let me know I have not had any success finding it... at a reasonable price that is, and I really want one ;D Your turn, post your prehistoric sharks! ;D

All right, here we go: APII I Dig Sharks figures. This company seems to go through nothing but changes, so who knows how long they'll be around. Megalodon Helicoprion Echinochimaera (not really a shark, but part of the set): Orthacanthus Scapanorhynchus: Also, Medicom made a Megalodon: And since it's missing, the Dinotales Xenacanthus: And the Neko Works Stethacanthus: Finally, there is a Yowies Megalodon: And I'm pretty sure that is what you have--unless they used the same figure for both!

The safari sharks look the best IMO. Gotta put that cladoselache in the mouth of the dunkleosteus ;D They are pretty awesome. What surpsrised me most was their size-- for toob figures, they are HUGE; the Cladoselache may be double the size of the Kaiyodo. In fact, the best comparison may be the Safari Anatotitan--smaller than a regular figure, but bigger than an expected toob figure. And I just thought of this Boki--do you not have the Safari Marine reptiles? There is a sweet frilled shark in there.

Very nice collection Boki, I had no idea there were so many prehistoric shark figures! Or, perhaps so few, depending on your point of view.

Hey, Boki beat me to it, but I didn't spend the day playing with a database to not post anything! I'll just post a couple, with a ruler next to them: The rest (along with, I think, all of the other toob figures I have so far, can be seen here: picasaweb.google.com/HyenaSean/WildSafariToob?feat=directlinkAnd just for fun...I am not so much the creative one, that's why I have kids. My son, Logan, decided that the sharks need homes (of course, he has his own set). While he comes up with something in Sculpey, he created some little scenes using Playmobil and two unfortunate Safari toob divers: I kept them small here; they can be seen larger here: picasaweb.google.com/HyenaSean/Logan?feat=directlink

Those sharks are cool, Sbell. I really like them. I have not seen them before in any store, are they still around? Do you know which sharks are in the block? I need to hunt them down ;D

I need to hunt them down ;D I'm assuming that you mean the APII sharks. You do not know what you are getting when you buy them, so it can mean a lot of the same while you hunt one last one. We have some in our store, but I don't think we'll be getting them again, that company is...a pain. But if the block is tapped right, sometimes you can get a hint of what is inside. Even so, it took us forever to find a Scapanorhynchus.

Hi, I'm new here. I'm not so much into dinosaurs as sharks. Especially goblin sharks and that's how I found my way here. I REALLY would like to buy a APII I DIG Scapanorhynchus. Does anyone have one to sell to me? I've seen them on eBay (see link below) , but then you don't know which one you get. cgi.ebay.com/DIG-FOSSILS-PREHISTORIC-SHARK-DIG-ADVENTURE-/320076610618Also, I like coelacanths and deep sea animals and expect to get some new figurines from Japan soon. I have a few from earlier series by Kaiyodo, if anyone is interested. You can see my shark collection here: www.myspace.com/tenguzameCheers, Goblin girl

What I find funny is that the Sarcoprion is nigh-identical to its picture on Wikipedia, down to the colour and everything.
As pointed out about, your Yowie 'great white' is a Megalodon. It was sold as 'Giant White Pointer Shark', and may have been meant to have originally been bronze instead of blue if the stickers in my collectors album are of prototypes.
